#Redbaron, it is nearly all about income here, the share price and a CG is nice to see but it is unlikely to be crystallised for some years to come, or unless it doubles then I have a rule of top slicing 50% and take the free carry somewhere else to keep some weighting discipline for safety..
I have added and built a couple of trust positions over late 2024 for the bigger diversification (BRWM) in raw materials and mining, picking consistent winners here is throughout with hazards, also added a REIT (SUPR) waiting for interest rates to soften which has good potential now as inflation comes off its highs and more likely to come back over 2025, there are fees, but worth paying on a small % of the PF (IMO).. |
Like you LLB it's always been about supplementing retirement income with dividends...the bigger the better. However with volatile markets now I tend to stock pick and move in and out of positions a lot more than I used to.I've never relied on funds and paying annual management fees.Dyor and you're in charge of all financial decision making. |
#Redbaron10, it did not make much sense to me either, unless their mandate (or fund manager) has changed with ESG / green investing / health / environment focused but so now they cannot hold..?
No matter, each to their own, I am here for the dividends having held IMB for years and waiting for the opportunity to pick BATS up as well which I did over H1-2024.. :o)
Sooner or later industry consolidation will happen, just sit back and wait IMO while mopping up the dividends.. |
BAT around £27 when Trump was elected early November. |
I wouldn't be at all surprised LLB.I don't understand why Reinet held the shares all through the ESG investing years, when funds wouldn't touch shares like this and big oil, to then dump the whole investment to invest elsewhere.Hey it's their money but the bonus hand outs this year might be less than they expected now! |
#Redbaron10, could UBS have been the beneficiary of some or all of the Reinet shares..? someone clearly thought they were undervalued .. :o) |
I appreciate dumping 43m on the market for other institutional investors to buy meant Reinet had to accept a discounted 2820p a share but at today's price that's 350p per share down and £140m that they've lost.Good move! |
are you sure |
That's a heck of a gap between 30 and 31. Most gaps get filled, which means a fall back here. |
I know it's early, but it's nice to see it in the blue. I expected to see some profit taking! |
We all do Huckers when our winners are flying.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Nasdaq futures down 4% (NVDA down 11% premarket). FTSE holding firm at this point. Perhaps BATS and some others will shine by comparison in coming months? Wish I had a bigger position here. |
Gotta feel sorry for the chap who sold these at 26 and bought Nvidia. These up 20% since then plus a divi and Nvidia cratering premarket as DeepSeek can do class leading AI with significantly less GPUs.
;) |
Hopefully a bit of selling/carnage in the technology sector might encourage a switch into high yielding stocks/defensives. |
Only perhaps consideration is when the share price increases so much that it becomes such a large percentage of your portfolio, which makes you uncomfortable..mine is now at 15% plus divs |
Was hoping for it to stay lower so I could sell some and get them in the isa come April without too much tax to pay , oh well , can't complain |
I expect a run up to 35 quid here... with the BB continuing for next years and the FY results arriving in a few weeks, Remains a firm hold and take the dividends (8,8% ROCI in my case) |
Not a time to take profit as it's just breaking out but a profits a profit I just think this might have a load more legs nowI've learned my lesson let the runners run GLA |
Just checked, blimey! |
top-sliced some from 23.40 this morning to pop into my ISA in April... happy days |
Fantastic news. Cheered up my Monday morning. |
Yes UBS were neutral with share price target of 3000p. Now a BUY with share price at 3900p |
What PT are UBS giving for BATS ? |
Hurray for that! |
UBS buy this morning. |
