Flip a coin, buy sell hold. Or just enjoy the dividend. All depends on personal investment timelines. |
Give yourself a rest I’ve been in the city 40 years and hedge funds and traders fail to beat the index about 80 percent of the time -that’s because they still believe in chart garbage |
What are opinions on the charts? From my pretty inexperienced eye they look over bought. |
Yes, top sliced 10% of this myself this morning. Bought at an average of £23 last March. Never wrong to take a profit |
Likewise ...up 27% plus divs on the holding ..time I thought to top slice to remain comfortable enough to retain the bulk |
I have exactly the same sentiment and have sold a few this morning. Weighting was to high. Still have the majority and confident to keep holding. Come on bats |
UK on recession watch now.UK ftse 100 stocks with a UK focus like housebuilders and for instance WTB getting beaten down. |
Trimmed just a few on that spike this morning Holding became a little too large Still have a sizeable holding and long term hold for me |
Citi have upped their price target from £32 to £36 here with a 'buy' rating |
Lol...LLB you and i are on the same wavelength.Spooky. |
Just as a comparison, and i appreciate PM is further along the road of profitability from NGP categories, but over five years BAT is up 1.5% whereas PM is up 63%.I know rough comparisons like this aren't totally indicative but the writedown from the Reynolds acquisition by BAT certainly has negatively impacted the share price here.Hopefully this overhang on the share price is finally being corrected and VUSE and VELO increasing profitability to the bottom line is reflected this week. |
A cracking run up to our reporting (13th) indeed, PM reported 06th, so we are most likely seeing some drag from their results, they did 11% on the day..
IF we mirror that performance with a beat market expectations, our share price was 3300 on the 6th, so could it run to 3600+ this week..?, yes it could, very interesting to see the impact of our NGP scaling to revenues and profits.. |
LLB some very informative advice there which is much appreciated. As for the results I will be happy with just a dividend uptick into the 60p region I'm not asking for much as bats has given us plenty already :-) |
Incredible run up to results on Thursday |
#NellyNell, we must not grumble.. :o), a 10% ROCE per year here is superb, just roll with it for keeps, having a spreadsheet with total returns and adjusted unit costs makes for easy viewing I find and motivating to keep doing it, after 10 years holding on some shares (caveat for any dividend cuts) the net costs will turn to zero then negative there after..
We have all had some losers over time, but it does not hurt at all to highlight the winners when you hit one right..
How far will it run up to..? hard to say but we were at these share price levels in 2012, FY results 13th this week will set the tone for direction, the PM results last week saw +11% and the price has stayed there so we could be on for a cracking week here IF the results exceed expectations.. |
Agree on SQZ which I hold. CAML- I've been suckered by exploration companies in the past and with the others I already have enough insurers with LGEN and Just. NESF is interesting but prone to govt interference- like SQZ really. Good list though. |
chatchat, Thanks also have MNG,PHNX,and NESF. How about CAML No Debt, and SQZ for around 12%,and 16% divs ? |
No need to trade this or sell off for a profit as for once I actually timed my entry perfectly and I am banking 2.5% every 13 weeks with this. Currently up close to 50% including the Dividends already banked but I can't see anything safer than bats at the moment. Long may this run continue |
Well done. I was in at 24 and out at 27 thinking that would be about the level. For that wrong so well done to all holders |
My best pick in H1-2024 this one, waited for years for the opportunity to get in and build a position for income then keep them for life while we wait for the inevitable market sector consolidation which will happen sooner or later..
PF weighting is important, so trimming IF the weighting % exceeds limits should happen, but while it is paying out a safe, steady 7% it is a hold here, LGEN/MNG/PHNX also great for 8/9/10% income and IMB should have a place in many a PF.. :o) |
Never wrong to take a profit and invest according to your strategy and timelines. Personally I think this has further to run and I can't think of many safer places for my money at the moment. |
I switched to Phnx and MNG - there are others giving higher returns (eg NESF/SEIT/GCP/) but depends what you are comfortable with and (for me)aiming not to be too overweight in any one holding. |
chatchat, Where are you looking for higher yield, and which shares ? |
I have taken half off the table on this and HSBC to switch for higher yield. A great break through £30 and just want to lock in some profit. |
