Nice finish on Wall St so hopefully build from here.Light touch FDA regulation stateside at least could cushion BAT combustible earnings to offset to some extent the tighter regulations coming from the UK, probably,EU and globally under the WHOs directives.All to play for regarding BAT buiding NGPs market share and its ever growing contribution to group profits to offset the predicted decline in combustibles' contribution to earnings.The balancing act is to achieve the growth in earnings necessary from NGPs to offset the declines from combustibles.The company wants 50% contribution to earnings from NGPs by 2035 i believe, so anything that buys the company time to meet that target, like less regulation on combustibles at this stage, the better. |

I noted with interest that big tobacco was the third biggest contributor to Trump's campaign funds at around $10m after big tech and big oil who contributed a lot lot more but a bit of lobbying on top of the contribution all helps. |
Let's hope we can keep rising from here making Reinet's decision to dump their 43m shares ever more financially painful for them.They were keen to take the cash and invest elsewhere but I think they bailed too soon on this.They could/should have waited for year end results and also see what directions the Trump administration was going to give the FDA on its tobacco regulations going forward imho |
