Also, for a tobacco company to be "committed to building a smokeless world" smacks a little of the Ratner effect. I suppose they have no choice, but even so. |
Maybe I'm mistaken, but doesn't sound very optimistic, at least in the near term. "Low single digit" growth, so 1% say, with 5% "currency headwind" makes 4% reduction, no? |
They’ve just made a RNS announcement |
What we looking for tomorrow boys, hopefully buybacks continue, everything on track, perhaps news on dividend increase for 2025.Any thoughts ? |
IMB is higher since they sell mostly in emerging and third world markets, where smoking is rife and not about to change in terms of regulations. People are opting for cheaper brands you could say, worldwide.
BATS is very engrossed in the US market with Reynolds, that is the main issue for investors. |
I will be buyer of BATS in any weakness b4 or after exd... |
Market knows more than bulletin boards... |
One reason Imperial is higher is because I sold my position partly.. LOL |
I cant see one reason (other than the recent statement from IMB) why they are higher than bATS lower profit...Higher PE...lower div??? |
Yes should have backed both tobacco horses, imperial 52 week high, Bats dropped from 2994p to 2685p in a month. |
Sorry should not have said "backed" it will get "Rachel Thieves" on to us... |
Or backed both horses .... |
52 week high for Imperial, have we backed the wrong tobacco horse, lol |
You're dead right there! |
We get that every budget. |
Bats getting 132 million pounds, that's not bad. |
What worries me about Rachel Thieves is that she will come after tobacco companies the way she is rumoured to be going after gambling companies.
The Puritans are in charge and they are dangerous for investment ... Investors are already cashing in profits on the London Stockmarket due to the capital gains rates that are about to shoot up.
WORST UK GOVERNMENT IN LIVING MEMORY! |
All helps lol.We have dropped from 2994 to 2685p in a month, ok we had a 58.88p dividend but even so seems an excessive drop, hopefully Wednesday Bats may get their mojo back. |
In the Sunday times yesterday it reported that BAT will receive over £100m from Price Waterhouse for an inaccurate audit. I gues that is a drop in the ocean to BAT |
Of course you are talking about budget day, I'm talking about Bats Capital Markets Day, 16th October real shareprice moving day, up or down, look at Imperial up nearly 5% on their day of news. Fingers crossed Bats have something good to say. |
Of course shareprice will tread water until 16th October. |
The 'Market' is unlikely to show any movement before 30th October IMO monty. |
Big days next Wednesday, 16th October, Capital Market Day for Bats.Hopefully some good news like Imperial announcement, give us a much needed bounce, don't know why fallen back to under 2700p, but that's the market for you. |
Great news, hopefully back on track onwards and upwards. |
