Interesting article about forecast for dividends 2025 and 2026. https://www.fool.co.uk/2024/09/10/heres-the-dividend-forecast-for-british-american-tobacco-shares-through-to-2026/ |
Give this site a try RB10.

Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Thank you.I usually get the info from the economic calendar lse board but there's no mention of BAT Sept div |
The ex divi date is the 26th. Meaning, shares bought on the 26th are not entitled to the divi. The ones who get the divi are the holders at close of market on the 25th. |
So the ex-dividend date here is 25th this month and shares trade ex-div from 26th? |
Yes you're right might get away with it on a 6 month dividend payer not quarterly payer, especially when a company has a buyback program. |
The short seller is responsible for making dividend payments on the shorted stock to the entity from which the stock was borrowed..IF Marshall Wace cover their 0.6% short before 26th, the share price should push through 3000 pence.. :o) |
Why risk it when you can sit back and collect 2.5% every 13 weeks. It's not worth the hassle in My opinion |
Too tricky on the timing imho easy to get out of pocket and I personally hate having to buy back less shares that I sold. Very little irks me more actually. |
I notice Marshall Wace have shorts at 0.6% up 0.1 from August. They must be feeling the pressure and I wonder if they are trying to hold the rise back and bale when BATS goes ex-div with the inevitable drop that accompanies an ex div. That would actually push the price up and beyond the £30 mark and bod well for us as the share buy back is coming to an end for this year. Would be nice to see a surge towards the 29th and stop losses being hit. Idle specuation on my part but one wonders. K |
Easier to achieve on 6 monthly payouts, but harder to time 3 monthly events. |
It's crossed my mind monty as we got really close to 3000 the other day and big tech started to rally too.
I held back from doing anything though as I think the broadening out will continue as interest rates come down and quality companies / high yielders come even more into focus.
3000 this year and the next divi locked in all seems very possible to me so I will stick and not try to trade it.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
I would imagine some investors sell take a profit, then hope to buy back before ex dividend date, must admit I was thinking of it, but dangerous game, getting the timing right. Anyone else thought doing that. |
Interest rates falling in the eurozone so time for BAT Phoenix and LGEN to move higher over the next 12 months, but in some ways I hope not as I have some money to invest in April or every April. |
Rentokil tanked on low US earnings I read in this morning's paper. I would have expected BATS to suffer a similar fate. Perversely, Diageo (DGE) have risen today rather more than they have of late.
Having just returned from a 17 day holiday in Florida (Naples and Orlando area) I saw little signs of a slowdown compared to last year's visit. Nobody I spoke with mentioned the economy as an issue.
I hold both BATS and DGE and do so for the same reasons as monty. |
Not all that surprised seeing some defensive names leading the negative chart today.
Big tech stateside did well yesterday so it stands to reason some money gets rotated into risk on / growth.
Was not expecting such a quick look at 3,000 or so here so am more than happy holding and waiting for the next divi to get locked in in a few weeks time.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
No one went hungry taking a profit. If you're trading great, if you are investing like me I want that tax free dividend in my isa.Hopefully found holy grail of investing,High dividend and some growth in shareprice.Everyone to their own strategy. |
Also Altria has been cooling down in the States after a tremendous run |
Sold a few more, the chart is overextended imo |
Not putting a ceiling I don't know where shareprice going up or down. |
Monty.....I think you're quite brave to put a figure on the ceiling share price here. The chart ascent is pretty steep now and you know as well as I do that markets always overdo it on both the up and downsides. Absent a big change in market sentiment, wouldn't it be safer to make that kind of decision towards the end of the buyback period? |
No one can forecast where a shareprice going all probability. Most analysts have targets in the 3000p plus, Jeffries having 3500p target, to me of course bias but 3250p is my target. Just collect massive dividend every 13 weeks, while we wait, that's my thoughts. |
