I think so monty.
For sure, just like in early August, the money will go back into big tech at some point but in the meantime I think much of it will flow towards the "safer" companies such as BATS.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Big sell off tech shares last night, are they switching into high yield dividend stocks and ones with buybacks that's a bonus. |
All political parties look after their voter base...they've always done so.At least Labour has one of sorts, the Tories don't have one any more. The problem is you give in to one set of pay demands and then every public sector union says their members jobs are just as vital to the smooth running of public services and they all want pay rises and parity. We shall see.I've booked my GP appointment now ready for the end of October! (joking) |
redbaron - by Nov the GP's will probably be on strike. They will see the govt cave into the junior doctors and want their larger slice of the pie. |
Sorry Laurence. It wasn't my intent to set you off on one.I fully sympathise and agree.I'm off the blood pressure medication at present but on October 30th i might be renewing my prescription after a GP visit. On second thoughts it might be the end of November before i get to see the GP! |
Dividend tax bands all went up 1.25% in 2021/2022 NICS rates went up 1.25% in 2022 Tax free dividend allowance reduced from GBP 5,000 down to just 500 The CG allowance reduced from 12,000 to 3,000 now
Dividend tax payers have already been reamed, most pay PAYE income tax, NICS and corporation tax as well, there will be nothing left soon, don't get me started.. :o) |
Good points and thanks but let's see what the chancellor does with the basic rate 8.75%,higher rate 33.75% and additional rate 39.35% dividend tax bands on 30th October. Not every investor has their BAT shares in ISAs.If the chancellor leaves these alone and not increase them i'd be amazed as Labour are targeting all unearned income. |
Thats the rub with USA origin dividends, a 15% or a 30% WHT in the ISA pending your provider, a SIPP escapes the WHT, but that is it, for income seekers the CG is unlikely to be realised.. |
If they move to the US more buybacks less dividend + dividend withholding tax 15 percent with a W8Ben in place. |
If Trump wins in November the board here has to give serious consideration along with the likes of Shell to headquarter themselves in the US imho. This Labour government isn't going to be any friend to big tobacco, or big oil, as we've already seen with possible outdoors smoking regulations along with new vaping legislation and no new North Sea oil and gas licences. And let's get serious, with the state of the Tory party Starmer is likely to get a second term ie 10 years in office. So in the interests of shareholders they have to take their HQ operations to a more business friendly environment of less regulation and more corporate tax cuts which a Trump administration is likely to offer. The Shell boss has already intimated that his share price would be much higher in the US and one has to conclude the same would apply to BAT if you look at comparative MO and PM share prices.PM is at an all time share price high offering half the dividend BAT offers.Okay PM has IQOS as a brand leader and is further along the road with its smoke-free category strategy but BAT isn't that far behind its own smoke-free strategy to warrant where its share price is in the UK surely? Just putting it out there. Some may agree or disagree. |
Nearly $38 in the US markets right now which equates to roughly £29.Let's hope the momentum continues as PM maintains annual guidance in the US |
#Monty, it could well hit 3000 for XD 26th and another 58.88 pence in the bag.. :o) |
I don't think it will be long before testing 3000p, hopefully before xd 26th Sept. |
Incoming recession? Looking at pointers like the oil price tumbling and stocks like supermarkets and defensive staples like Unilever rising then the markets don't seem to like the future outlook.Plus the political uncertainty surrounding the US presidential election and US job numbers on Friday i think volatility this month and October might add to the grey hairs! |
They should look at getting rid of stamp duty...save like mad (usually) legal fees all the stress then pay the govt for the privilege...and its the highest in europe (no surprise there). |
pensions contributions tax relief has to be favourite...never understood the bigger earnings receiving more tax relief. surely should be the other way round. |
Anything can happen in the budget, but there are better and bigger targets to go after than an ISA tax raid..
IHT CGT Pension contributions tax relief LTA ceiling reintroduced with tax trap Freezing income tax threshold allowances and trapping pay rises into a higher tax rate band
ISA funds have already been taxed once with no reliefs on contributions on the way in
We just have to wait for October to find out how low/deep they will go, penalising savers for doing the right thing with their take home pay would stink IMO.. |
monty keep quiet she might hear :):) |
hi im so nervy about this...my best share ever this after years of utter carp ...just worried about sudden fall and being bitten on @rse but this divvis is spectacular which keeps me invested. |
Ex div not long now, 26th September.Another 58.88p in the isa tax free bag. At least Robber Reeves can't touch that dividend. |
Nice rise into the close in NY by PM,MO and BAT with end of the month repositioning by funds.Could see a nice rise again Monday if index futures look positive after the weekend. |
