2nd August dividend reinvestment, I bet we will be paying 2650p. |
There seems momentum for this to get back to 30 quid. Been adding in the 24 region over last months. With Trump likely to get the US vote for next 4 yrs and the movement on SBB, I see positive potential.. GLA |
How much stake they have now in ITC % of share capital? |
#MCunliffe1, happy to hold and just let the strategy unfold, I built my position here pretty recently Dec - May after the RJR impairment downgrade which I saw as the opportunity I was waiting for to get in, held IMB for 5 years and they will be for free at year 10.. :o)
Sooner or later (IMO) there will be some consolidation in this space so covering both IMB/BATS off makes sense to me anyhow.. |
Thanks for the correction LLB - hadn't appreciated it was a done-deal to sell. |
#Mcunliffe1, IIRC BATS have said they would divest their position in the ITC hotels business as it is non core, but we will have to wait and see what happens as the strategy unfolds.. |
But, maybe the growth in that ITC stake together with the dividends that come with holding onto that stake could provide greater benefit than paying down debt that might, in the foreseeable future be renegotiated at lower rates when they fall.
I'm not selling my BATS shares - why should BATS sell their ITC shares? |
If they sold another chunk may pay off some debt, so we may not see any of the dosh, but nice to know they have the ITC stake. |
Special dividend sounds nice. How high would it be? Another 10%? |
Special dividend or more buybacks that would do me, lol |
08.02.2024 - on 24 July 2023, ITC announced a proposed demerger of its ‘Hotels Business’ under a scheme of arrangement by which 60% of the newly incorporated entity would be held directly by ITCs shareholders proportionate to their shareholding in ITC. On 14 August 2023, ITCs Board of Directors approved the scheme of arrangement subject to necessary regulatory approvals. The de-merger is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
The Groups interest in ITC decreased from 29.19% in 2022 to 29.02% in 2023 as a result of ITC issuing ordinary shares under the companies employees share option scheme. The issue of these shares and change in the Group’s share of ITC resulted in a deemed partial disposal..
12.03.2024 - following completion of the proposed Block Trade, BAT will remain a significant shareholder of ITC, with a c.25.5% holding.
So at the end of the de-merger we will still own c15% of the hotels business to sell on as it is non core to fund the next BB for 26/27..? |
Good post, the ITC stake very exciting. |
Remember we still have ITC Hotels Demerger. ITC India present share price hit new high below-
hxxps://www.business-standard.com/markets/news/itc-gains-2-in-weak-market-nears-record-high-rallies-19-from-june-low-124071900392_1.html
BATS presently Portfolio after ITC Hotels demerger will rise extra Capital for Buyback and debt reduction. If ITC India share price continues its up ward trend in the coming 2 to 3 years the debt of Bats will bascially be paid off if ITC India was sold.
What I understand is the Portfolio of Bats Holdings across the globe is much higher than its Market cap(with debt btw) presently nice fact.
Happy Investing |
Building a position or adding to 1 over H1-2024 should prove to be well timed, keep for a decade and own them for nothing inside that period, or double it using the DRIP in 7 years.. :o) |
Yes I see a chartist as 2881p pencilled in if all is well for Bats. I still say with the buybacks back over 3000p 2025. |
Good day today. Results next thursday. |
We know how much Bats can move remember May 22 virtually had a straight run to 3500p. I'm relaxed if it goes up ok, but compounding shares every 13 weeks soon builds up into a nice nest egg. |
Sorry 7 products. We are seeing the rotation out of tech stocks to other parts of the market but we've seen this before in anticipation of interest rate cuts.We were supposed to have seen rate cuts by now in 2024 but the wait goes on.The political election calendar is throwing a spanner in the works at the moment. |
That was nice of the FDA to approve 6 e-cig products for licence and sale |
Well that was hard work but safely through at last. |
strong finish today |
Think it was a very good move doing all those buy-backs when the shares were dirt cheap. Probably best to stop them when it gets over £27. I will hold until £30. With interest rate cuts to come pretty much everywhere it's only a matter of time. |
Of course easily in my view buybacks until end of 2025p,then why not sell another chunk of ITC and have buybacks until 2027. |
Yeah I agree and I should have been more aggressive with my top ups recently.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
This has easily another 20% in it by end 2025 with the buybacks continuing and Trump in the White House (Reynolds menthol ciggies safe under Trump) |
