My average is £25.02 on the £10k holding. |
I'd say anything under 2800 is still a bargain for BATS
They will keep buying back through the end of 2025 so I doubt they will stop now, those that bought around 2300 are still getting 10% dividend on their original stake, which of course was the deal of the decade for a company like this one. |
With the rising share price I would be tempted to ease back on the BB throttle.
Seems to me that a BB may want to achieve two objectives; maybe one or the other, maybe both. I see these objectives as:
. a rising SP . a reduction in the number of shares in circulation (assuming cancellation)
The former is happening but the latter is now costing more money to achieve a lesser number bought and cancelled.
I count myself a long-term dividend seeking investor rather than a 'trader'. I try and buy when a share is at a low point - don't we all. I am reluctant to keep buying when the share price is on a fairly constant upward move - as BATS has been for the past 30 days, in the main. |
Astute funds know that the frothy markets are going to tank soon enough and are not selling but adding. The buybacks have no sellers to fight and therefore the share price will slowly just keep melting up by the looks of it. This is the case for Altria and IMB too. |
2500p resistance and psychological level the chartists will tell you, break through that 2500p becomes the new support level. With the buybacks, should be soon, in my opinion. |
Some big sells went through late yesterday but the share price is pushing ahead this morning. Interesting. The algorithm must be expecting more buyers as we approach 25 quid. |
IMB doing the business, results wise, and they're no way near along the road of NGP growth in comparison to BATS.When NGPs are shown to materially add to bottom line profits here, in a shift from its reliance on legacy sticks profits, then this share should be viewed a lot more positively. |
I rest my case, Bats should be a lot higher.https://www.fool.com/investing/2024/05/13/best-stock-to-buy-right-now-altria-vs-british-amer/ |
I don't want Bats to be listed in America, but Altria p.e over 9, Bats 6.6 and with a higher dividend, we would I think have a big upside in shareprice if they decided to list there. |
Just sell the ITC hotel business post spin out makes most sense |
Part of the current share value takes account of their holding in ITC. If that holding is substantially reduced and the money given back to shareholders as a special div. the share price would fall - given simple mathematic principles.
Similarly, if the ITC stake was sold and used fully to fund a BB then again, you'y have less shares owning a lesser valued commpany so parity on pure mathematical terms.
Now, if the ITC stake is sold and the money used to diversify into some other marketplace that is likely to grow and prosper then ultimately the share price could rise.
Then you must start to question, is it really wise to sell the ITC stake? The ITC share price has grown well over the past five years, not quite so well over the past year. India is an expanding economy.
When the latest BB was announced in late March the share price was about 2400p It's now 2461. It's not exactly a flag-waver for Buy=Backs is it? |
My reasoning buybacks until end 2025 it seems, dividend growing. Still a large stake in ITC could sell, meaning possibly special dividend, or more buybacks. So why not back over 3000p, where they should be. |
Easily, but don't forget shares don't go up in a straight line. |
Yes me to. Sold 100 shares at 2460 |
Nice rise today atm it's slightly breaking out.. the test will be around 25. This could quite easily shot to 30 before you know it with buyback to support it.. time will tell?? |
taken some profit at 2460
still a few weeks left and weeks holiday starting tomorrow
will pay for a few bevvies
Good luck all those in it for the long haul |
Just filter the twit! |
blackhorse
you keep saying this on other threads are you trying to get others to follow. |
Money moved to APH ( alliance Pharma ) |
Is there a gap still to fill at about 2310? |
Monty watch Glen as very interesting in commodity space with takeovers. |
Ex div 27th June, seems to come around very quick, I love quarterly payments. |
Gotta love all that ESG investing BS from a few years back when funds didn't want to touch oil, energy and tobacco stocks.Different story now with oil stocks and high yield plays like this and IMB.I know most funds still won't touch tobacco on ethical grounds but then that's their prerogative. |
Thats me full up now, buying Dec-May, nice average, keep them for a decade and see where it is then, a 10% compound return on the lot will do nicely.. :o) |
Things are starting to look a bit better here now. I do not want any more as don't want too many eggs in one basket. Happy to hold and get my juicy divis whilst waiting for the re-rating |
