Redbaron10 you may have caught the bottom - early days but the fall feels over done. 2246.75 could be a good price |
I think there will be a bounce up of the share price when the dust has settled. Cant tell you when that will be. Maybe tomorrow maybe not Who knows!! |
Remember BAT'S own 29% of quoted ITC in India, this has been a fantastic investment to hold, our stake is currently valued at around £15 billion. This is a real Ace in the hand for BAT going forward. |
Net div 1st February. Just saying |
Added at 2246.75 Happy to add.Over 10% yield.Treat this share as an annuity |
Don't mind the drop just get more shares for my dividend also just sold my free haleon shares so have funds to buy more BATS shares. |
The next two years of BAT is foggy as long as Revenue is falling even maintain at Lower single digit growth , no debt can be brought down unless future dividends are cut ( Debts and dividends are at opposite end thus one has to give 😔 |
Not really. |
Will the yanks be buying today? |
BATs is on a free fall now to the opening trading of US in half hour time . GOOD LUCK FOLKS , my view , it will slice through £22 with ease when US opens for trading 😞 sad 😞 |
Today's update references BATS may consider further shareholder returns once net debt is in their favoured range.
It's difficult to take seriously a BOD who approves such a statement.
What BATS need to do is accelerate debt reduction, not talk about returning additional money to shareholders. |
Adding more Christmas has come early |
Vaping is massively overtaking smoking - only a fool would invest in a tobacco company |
Well so far it looks like selling on the bell was the right thing to do. The idea of companies that make obscene amounts of money from people smoking now deciding to go smoke free is quite a bizarre proposition and a huge leap of faith required to continue to invest surely? Any huge transition has massive inherent risks. |
A year ago the price was £34!! |
1nocker
i quite agree with your post and they do not mention that all the obese people are costing more than smokers health problems with out any taxation to pay for their stupid weight gain of eating too much fast food.. |
1knocker: I like your logic on the NHS aspect.
When I was aged 38, a smoker of too many years by that stage, I was informed that I had advanced bowel cancer. That was a Friday lunchtime. I quit smoking that evening and thankfully, after the operation to remove the middle half of my bowel was discharged 8 days later without a colostomy bag and without the cost associated with smoking. I haven't smoked since that Friday.
Perversely, it was that shock that kick-started me to really pack in. I'd tried several times without success beforehand.
Having therefore cost the NHS a significant amount at 38 I'm no longer contributing by way of nicotine tax. I paid a fair old whack in income tax however. |
This can happen to unilever reckit etc |
@mw16- I had similar bad luck for a while. Terry Smith's strategy seems to work long term in most environments, so my current principal is never to buy a stock that he doesn't own or didn't own in the past. I remember he owned Imperial Tobacco then sold it as didn't have faith in the management. However he has held Philip Morris in his fund since inception I believe. He never bought BAT and that was a red flag for me, so I sold out of BAT about 3 years ago when I considered this point. |
