i read the indians will not let them buy any more of itc as they tried to.. |
BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO P.L.C. 3,619,614,150 29.02 %
Life Insurance Corp.of India (Investment Portfolio) 1,896,861,285 15.21 %
The Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India 974,531,427 7.814 %
These are the top three owners with 52% Can't see a specific government holding. |
You said ITC overpriced, but I think this is a hidden jewel in BATs crown, Bats get roughly $540 million a year in dividends.Whats the stake worth roughly 17 billion. They could always sell it and we all get a special or just keep it. I would love Bats to bid for ITC but don't think they can I think Indian gov owns 30% so I suppose they may see it a Indian sovereign wealth fund in a way.Either way ITC good for Bats. |
How much booze can you bring back from France, thought it was unlimited? |
how much does it cost though, illegal tobacco is rife every where and has been for years, easy to buy.. |
Yes agree, but don't want a nanny state don't eat fast food, no booze, no drinking, no gambling, no vapes better than cigarettes though. |
i only bought into bats recently as i avoided in the past, got to an age where share risk is low and i like the divi's.. |
Hated, unethical, shunned by pious investment groups who are pure and decent.
Share price permanently low...but great cash flow and dividends.
Sometimes it is good to swim against the tide, enjoy the dividends and try to sleep soundly despite your shameful guilt. |
just add more tax to buying burgers would be a good idea to help the health of the nation.. |
Autumn statement tomorrow will he hit cigarettes and booze which is the normal thing, got to be careful the tax they bring in, gov would lose that, people just pop across to France to load up of course a lot cheaper. |
Yeah I agree monty and based on upcoming data, Geopolitical issues aside, it's hard to see anything beyond the Autumn statement on Wednesday that could scupper things.
2700+ by ex divi in my opinion isn't too much of a stretch.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
monty: I wouldn't be too certain that there must be a lot of cash on the sidelines waiting.......
NS&I are mulling the possibility of increasing rates (having recently pulled there best 1 year saver) in order to bolster govt. borrowing. If they do raise rates others will need to follow. I'm already at the point of debating if that £5k taken out of my cash pile at Int. Inv. in my SIPP is worth it given I'm paid 4% on that £5k.
I think rates need to actually fall before the big money moves towards equities. That may not happen until next year and then we have the prospect of an election in the UK and one in the USA coupled with the USA govt. debt issues. |
I think the Santa rally will start early, must be a lot of cash on the sidelines waiting to come back into the stockmarket, especially if investors think the Fed and BOE done raising rates.Stockmarket is a six month forward looking indicator. In the meantime we collect another 57.72p in the bag. |
ITC paid a special dividend this year, of course that's a nice bonus for BATS, ex div 21st December for another 57.72p from Bats. |
itc is based in an up and rising economy unlike many western ones which are stagnating.. |
ITC is a tad overpriced I've read. |
Simple solution, back both. |
In a moment of boredom and remembering (monty I think) the post about BATS owning 29% of ITC I found the following by scouring the internet.
BATS holds 3,619,614,150 shares. Each ITC share is worth 438.85 rupees which equates to £4.23 BATS has a stake worth over £15billion (£15.311bn almost)
This yeat ITC paid a total of 15.5 rupees in divi's (there was a special div.) and hence £540m would have been received by BATS this year. |
phil I'll take that with our 230.9p dividend on top, lol. Agggg Imperial Tobacco up 2% now, I hope not backed the wrong horse. |
Goldman Sachs cuts British American Tobacco price target to 2,750 (2,950) pence - 'neutral' |
I see Imperial Tobacco ups it dividend and with buybacks look good.Hopefully Bats ups dividend to 240.9 and start buybacks these companies are cash cows. |
