Good morningSorry but the prediction was £26 by close yesterday. Now if he'd said £25 he'd still have been wrong but a lot closer.Completely pointless pretending you know the future :) |
Microfocus was extemely good to me also planit2 with many software projects developed on the back of thei Cobol language offering. I never bought shares though. |
I also hope that we have bottomed, have built a position over the last few weeks. There were lots of stocks inversely correlated to the bond yields so my portfolio is looking a bit more healthy over the last couple of days. Let's hope this is just the start of a long bull run.
It's funny MicroFocus is mentioned, Monty sometimes drove me mad on that board but the share was extremely good to me. |
discOd: I'd wait until Monday's opening before crowing too much.
This link, courtesy of Aceuk on the yield thread tells us that bond yields are indeed dropping. This bodes well for SP's. |
£26 X |
Santa rally going to start early in my view, order that bigger turkey boys, lol. |
Weaker dollar hurting us a bit here now.Gbp/USd has moved from 1.22 to 1.24 |
I agree with the 2 posts above.
Would expect the short term boost to come off a little both here and in many others too, especially as we head towards the close today as it's a weekend, but that presents an opportunity to maybe catch this at sub 2500 before it really starts to wake up.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
Don't forget stockmarket about a six month forward looking indicator, bonds should be lower and high yielders with a growing dividend should flourish, not rocket science. |
So now we know that these high yield defensives are directly correlated to bond yields ... with investors seeing that bonds may have topped and therefore jumping back into ones that pay way more than 5% (soon to be 3%, in the next year or two anyway) |
Non farm 150k v 180k expected, unemployment 3.9% v 3.8% expected |
I certainly agree with you on the 'merry go round comment'.These CFOs and CEOs do chase the money around from company to company and the non-executive directors tend to be on many company boards at the same time so how much time they devote is thinly spread out among their many appointments. It is what it is sadly but leadership qualities in business is as lacking as it is with our political class from what i can see.It was interesting to note about Jamie Dimon at JP Morgan who at the end of the day is a salaried employee of that company. He's been CEO for twenty odd years and with his salary, bonuses and stock options he is a billionaire ($1.7bn).Unbelievable. |
She's good, get us back to 3400p price we were only a year ago. |
redb: I can't disagree with you that a change is sometimes a good thing.
But then I think, if the people leaving company 'A' are seen as not as good as the new guys coming in from company 'B' where do the 'not so good' types move to? Company 'C' presumably.
On each departure they are probably awarded payment for departure (share entitlements, bonus, maybe even pay for length of contract still to run) and upon arrival they probably receive a golden hello or signing-on bonus.
Then you think, were the new guys arriving at the company that is of interest to you (pick 'A', 'B' or 'C') any good at the company they've just left?
It's all a merry go-round and implies to me that there's not a lot of innovative ideas generated by an incumbent bunch of directors.
I am cynical in the main. |
If those US jobs number are good at 12.30pm U.K. time and the market likes them, will it kick off the Santa Rally. |
New CFO coming back to the company after a few years at Diageo following the board shakeup at the beginning of the summer with the new CEO Marroco taking up his role.I don't mind shakeups like this at the top as it brings in a new focus and they want to make their mark.Stefan Bomhard appears to be doing a good job after Cooper's disastrous last few years in her role at IMB so let's hope the new CEO and CFO here can repeat that trick. |
US jobs number later today market looking for 180,000 or less would be good. It's certainly a market moving event up or down. |
£26! |
No payday, next ex div 21st December for payment 1st Feb. |
Is this xdivi today |
Dividend reinvestment day, let see what price brokers pay. It’s seems for bull traders, like shooting fish in a barrel, knowing you have to buy Friday and Monday for reinvestment accounts. Cash in bank on trading account just now, yippee. Next ex div 21st December for another massive payment 13 weeks time. |
Of course especially dividend every 13 weeks. I don’t want to keep on about dividends, but forecast if you Google, this is what it’s says. Last years 230.9p per share reward is tipped to increase to 240.5p 2023 before rising to 251.9 next year and 269.6p in 2025. Of course nothing guaranteed. |
Yields will settle around 3% over the coming years, with close to 9% here it is a no brainer for those looking for income. |
No rate hike as expected, of course Bailey as to talk tough, I feel that's it. High yielders will come back into fashion. |
Look at the rns, gives a good account. |
