Just some reading

VoIP Service Revenue Tops $1.3B in 2004,
Skyrockets to $20B in 2009
BOSTON, Massachusetts, May 5, 2005— North American voice over IP service revenue topped $1.3 billion in 2004, and is expected to soar 1,431% to $19.9 billion in 2009, according to Infonetics Research’s latest report, VoIP Services annual market size and forecast for North America.
“VoIP services are relatively new to the telecommunications scene, so the growth rates will be extremely high as communication networks and services trend towards VoIP," said Kevin Mitchell, directing analyst for Infonetics and author of the report. "As carriers migrate their network towards IP over the next 5 years, more services are inevitably next generation VoIP services. This is a very early look, as VoIP services revenue represents less than 1% of total wireline carrier revenue in North America in 2004."
"Growth is driven by carrier footprint and solution expansion, marketing, and service bundling, leading to more adoption by new business/government/education and residential/ SOHO customers and increased usage at more sites," Mitchell continued. "Our forecast also assumes that revenue growth is due to incremental revenue from add-on VoIP applications, such as conferencing, remote office integration, presence/location-based services, and collaboration"

It would be nice to see the new Technical Director put his hand in his pocket and pick up a few shares.

Results due in a few weeks time - they were end of may last year

Think it was a sell and a buy with a 1p spread. However, clearly driven by the buyer as at the top end of the spread.

VoIP a threat to 3G voice?

March 22 2005

by Tony Hallett

Wireless voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks could end up challenging 3G mobile operators' revenues from voice minutes, according to a new report.

While not directly saying operators will be hit, the latest research from Analysys points out the threat of VoIP running over networks based on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WiMax and proprietary broadband wireless access technologies - all of which carry voice as another form of data packet.

Moreover, the consultancy notes that many 3G network operators themselves now offer unlimited data bundles and, while VoIP may not match the quality of voice calls over 3G, it could be an attractive option for some end users looking to save money.

Other broadband wireless access technologies that could help the rise of VoIP include Flarion's Flash OFDM and IP Wireless' W-CDMA TDD.

One of the directors bought recently at 81p. I wonder if any of them will be topping up as a result of the recent fall. i am getting very tempted at these levels.

Been quiet on this board recently.

A lot of the Business Section of the Sunday Times this morning is devoted to VOIP. It's well worth a read.

They say that this is the year when it could really take off. That can only mean good things for BRV.
