A nice big buy of 9983 shares today by someone.

Is this the next Sage? Certainly has the potential.

I suppose that article possibly explains the big turnaround in share price on Wednesday.

Wish I had bought more when they dropped.

Citywire yesterday...

At the age of just 37, Jim Rogers, once a partner to George Soros, retired from full-time fund management, to concentrate on his own money and travel round the world on a motorcycle.

Rogers started the Quantum fund with Soros, in which the former was the analyst, and the latter the trader. The duo proved to be highly successful making gains of almost 4,000% while the S&P gained just 50%.

He has recently written a book called Hot Commodities in which he argues that commodities ended a 20-year bear market in 1998 and are now experiencing a secular bull market that will continue for at least another 10 years. Rogers says that even commodity classes such as coffee, sugar and lead could enjoy as much strength, if not more, than the popular assets of gold and crude oil. His thesis is based on a number of points, but the main argument is that investment in new sources of supply, when commodity prices were falling, had been close to non-existent. Meanwhile demand for commodities is rising sharply and only in part because of the Chinese growth story.

There are hundreds of companies that trade on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) that deal, mine or explore in commodities, but I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to just four.

An indirect way of getting coverage to the commodities market, while simultaneously gaining exposure to the software sector, is through little-known Brady (BRY). The company designs back-to-front office IT trading systems for commodity traders. It is capped at £30 million and allows its customers to deal in precious and base metals, oil and soft commodities such as coffee/sugar. Taxable profits for Brady have leapt more than 10-fold over the three years up to 2003 and its interim results in September, showed a four-fold jump in profit to £823,000. The company is trading on a historic price to earnings ratio (p/e) of 45, but earnings forecasts for the current year put it on a prospective 2004 p/e of 17.5 and 2005 p/e of 14 against a forward 2005 sector p/e of 17. With the bull market for commodities in full swing, one could argue that it deserves a premium rating to the sector average. Supporters of the stock should consider long positions at the current price of 111p.

yes, can't believe it. I have an open position and got a bit twitchy when the bid hit 99p. Can't believe the bounce. MMs must have tried their best to get some stock, and then gave in. Looks good for tomorrow.

Cyberian, you are correct about a shortage of stock. I tried to buy on a T25 and none of the MMs would deal with me. Eventually, my broker managed to get me 5000 at 3p over offer price.

Last time this happened to me was when I tried to buy some Hornby and the MMs wanted a premium of 50p for a T25. I refused to pay and regretted it a few days later when the price had increased by over a quid. I am confident BRY will soon put me in profit.

Believe there may be a shortage of stock around and the company is starting to get a strong, hopefully informed following. The company may be in a "close period" so no director sales possible, although believe they may still have a lock-in period to serve in any case?

From Shares last week................................

Software designer Brady is showing a lot of promise. Flagship product Trinty isprovides front and back office support for specialised trading in precious metal, base metals, Oil and soft commodoties. Having floated just 13 months ago the maiden first half figures needed to please. They certainly did that , posting an impressive four-fold jump in profits on the back of a doubling of sales.

That the shares failed to react speaks volumes for the markets habit of ignoring smaller companies, but that wont last long if Brady continues to meet targets.

Verdict - the shares are too cheap for such bright prospects.

T'over 2004 1.95m, 2003 1.01m

intPTP 2004 0.82m 2003 0.15m

EPS (p)2004 2.73p 2003 0.76p

Market Cap 21 million.
