I personally believe BP and Shell will pull out of the UK, "which would suit Ed Milliband and friends," and relocate in the US or Netherlands. Their share prices are low compared to others, but they do help their buybacks, just my take on it.

The economics behind the 'complex' strategies, is simple

They see major downturn coming which will most likely last 2-3 years in raw consumption terms. And they are hoping oil can bail them out in 2028-30 and indeed; hope the margins are of old. Not assured. Market share will be key by 2028.

The macro view forcing their strategy changes, is no different to the funds that are dumping them today
