The "conservative" Tories gave the government the legal power to block any takeover for any reason, and the current government would definitely block BP. BP could try and shift incorporation, which would be good for a laugh, but I suspect the government would block that too.

Another 5 years of this government and not many will be making any money - of those that havent moved to a more accommodating country that is where the laying geese are not seen simply as the source of golden tax eggs.

isnt only 5% of BP in the UK. just give the governemnt the 5%.

with 78% tax rate, i doubt they are making money here anyway.

No chance of BP being taken over. The UK government would block it.

Sold some Natwest today to top up here.Hope that was sensible but this looks cheap in the dog days of summer.Management have tweaked their green agenda strategy for the better as a shareholder here, the BBs continue theoretically giving support to the share price and at these levels i can see another takeover approach in the offing. The strong dollar isn't great for commodities but i can see the dollar weakening as interest rate cuts start which should help poo.Refinery costs in Germany certainly put a dampener on the last results but the share price has to be good value at these levels imho.Time will tell.

I'm not so sure about that. 440 very low. If there are no nice surprises in the results on Tuesday, you may be lucky enough to reach your goal.

BP. They just seem to be getting cheaper by the day. They are buying back 5 million + shares a day for cancellation. The new boss needs to announce something good in the results on Tuesday, 10% rise in Dividend would be nice! Or else this really could become a serious takeover target. Just my views.
