Standard Oil would probably be considered controversial. May I suggest a more diplomatic name would be Sherman Oil.

Never.. Theresa May telling us something we know 5 years ago..
an migrant earning £100 a week with 3+ kids getting £25,000 in welfare top-ups a year.
We must be getting near implosion for them to start to come out with it.. or are they worried about the 2+million trash form Syria coming for a free ride?.. keep bending over Germany.

Crude oil surged 5 percent on Tuesday after the United States cut output forecasts, while global equity markets mostly rose on expectations the Fed will not raise interest rates this year, though Wall Street fell on slumping biotech stocks.

Given that "The Dark Side" is the only one who could possibly take out BP this could well turn into a "pure Trump nomination" play. I mean what President would ever authorise repealing the Sherman Act?

I've already figured a post-merger name - Standard Oil.

Fair it is. It's been about 3 and a half years since I was toddling around the BP & BLT threads but well, you know us commodity perma-bulls, we lurk under the ice until the time is right. I promise (warn?), I'm about to become a far more frequent poster on my favorite "B" threads.

Long live the alphabet investors, hic.

Oil up to the highest in a month. Breaking out of the trading range. When you have so many Spivs around I'm sure fiddling goes on.

Good evening Idioterna

I hope you are well or at least not unwell.

As a mere microbe in the trading world the reason for the movement of markets is way beyond my standing. I merely attempt to analyse the chart and make a profit.

Given that the Chinese appear to be IT 'savvy' it would be more surprising if they weren't indulging in a spot of manipulation and I don't rule out the Russians either.

All's fair in love, war and trading.

Good evening Peny & Bracke,

It's been a while (close to 10 years) since I had any decently strange insight into the movement of shares or markets. Indeed, the last time was the mysterious case of our man in Moscow hiding out in a ferris wheel while AAR bombed a few pipelines in Turkey and Georgia. But I reckon I might be onto something even bigger this time.. (and yes Bo Diddley managed to climb out of the wheel and over the fresh corpse of his saviour a few years later).

HFT has been part and parcel of the markets for nigh on a decade now. Even with all of it's faults it's been very profitable for the Big Boys, even the goldies monkey can press the "On" button. But the the turbulence in the commodities markets and the rise and fall and rise again of GLEN has exposed something rather dodgy going on.
When Mr. Snowden turned up in Honkers it was a tad upsetting for the Chinese, after all, he was doing their bidding (consciously or unconsciously). Prism was a problem for them and they needed to reign in the NSA before it gained enough insight to counter the new strategy. Since Edward toddled off we have seen just how much more powerful the Chinese really are in the internet world. Information access is not their only strength. They are damn good at both manipulation and alogorhytms too. In the first half of this year China disposed of over $525 Billion in US treasuries, they then devalued their currency by around 7%. Meanwhile, perversely some might say, commodity prices continued to tumble. How was this possible? Especially when China's own data for both 2014 and 2015 show food inflation running at 10% & 16% respectively. Logic would dictate commodities should have been rising.

So far, it has mostly been blamed on hedge funds. But Ivan at Glencore recently raised a question about Chinese state interference in the commodity markets. In fact, I believe it's worse than that. I think China can actually "hack" the trading alogorhytms used by the major trading houses. They have the know-how and the have the motive.

You heard it here first..

PS. It's a pity Monty isn't still around, he'd love this one.

#87005 What's new.
Our media seem not to know that the good old U S of A doesn't have a single Diesel car available from a US manufacturer (although two are planned, or were planned, for 2016). I wonder if they would pitch emission rules at a level that they thought the european manufacturers couldn't possibly reach? Could they? Would they?

Good day Penycae

The share price is certainly powering up leaving gaps in its wake. It has a few more minor swing highs to take out before 400 and riches beyond your wildest dreams !

Hopefully it will not be a case of sell the story.

Now how did I miss that? 87000 up for grabs, and I wasn't even near it.
This might well hit four quid.

Got to feel sorry fot the US attorneys who have dealt with the BP case. Loss of income looms.
Down to collecting welfare stamps going forward. Bet their welfare system isn't as good as that offered in the UK.
As long as they don't now come here and cause mayhem!
