Price of oil has eased around 5% in the past week and a half so some of the drop can be attributed to that.

A close below 497 would target the Daily SMA 200 at 486. Yes mb I'm still going on about that.

Afternoon bracke!
Yes, nicely out this morning. Was quite a big position on cfd's. Was twitching a bit last week. Looking to get long soon.
Bought into ARM (long) when BP closed out. Holding that and IAG. Both monkey trades.
Selling the GBP against both EUR and the dollar.
Trade well and prosper..........

Good day Penycae

You got 506. Also an opening gap.

Ref IAG

I presume it is a 'monkey' trade. There is a chunky gap to fill but when? I shall watch with interest.

Good afternoon Penycae

Did not turn out nice where I am. Just had thunder, lightning and torrential rain.

Ref BP.

510 is the 'fly in the ointment' if it breaks and holds below then 500.

Afternoon all.
Turned out nice again.
Still on the darkside here. Looking for 506 to exit. Got a limit order there to cover, but who knows?
Starting to buy (long) into IAG on my sb account. The more it falls, the more I'll add. They're just playing with it at the moment. Been in it for two whole days already. They did the same with EZJ, Made a few quid there by buying the dips.

Trade well and prosper Earthlings......

I thought the shareholders own BP, they employ the CEO and board to run the company.

If the company does well the dividends increase and the share price goes up, nobody complains.

A disaster happens, the dividend is cut and the share price drops, thats businesses.

I think if the company goes bankrupt the creditors can come after the shareholders for money, if the limited liability doesn't work

Wish BP would sue the companies responsible. Hope France's annoyance at the bullying by the USA is taken onboard by a few other nations. Expect Cameron will side with Obama though.

Not quite with you. Which is ridiculous?

1 The suing.

2 Suing in Texas.

3 The amount they are suing for

4 Something else.

BP is facing a fresh round of costly litigation over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, with more than a dozen British and European pension funds, alongside other investors, being allowed for the first time to sue in a Texas court.

optomistic

The share price has had a reprieve probably as a result of the Iraq situation but the 'Macondo Situation' is still ongoing and lawsuits, etc still to be heard.

Depending on the results of lawsuits, etc BP may have to pay out a lot more. It is unlikely that the share price will be unaffected.

A few weeks ago I was taken to task for suggesting that the share price would drop to its Daily SMA 200 by the 20 June but the afore mentioned 'Iraq Situation' intervened.

I still hold to my view of the share price dropping to its Daily SMA 200.

why short a company trading at halve its price... 24% up already in a year with a good dividend to boot.

I'm short (but underwater ;-) ) at the moment for the same reasons. some folks seem to think that 'quiet for a while' means all the problems have gone away.
