21/9/2013 08:32 | Going back to the Exon rumor. A couple of years ago president Obama gave Exon the nod if it wanted to bid for B P. It seems to me it's the only way to avoid a large fine if Halliburton is anything to go by. Nudge nudge wink wink! | veryniceperson
20/9/2013 23:24 | FSA/FCA only investigate things where there is a possibility of a large fine to swell their coffers, pay increases, pay for Christmas parties and put huge lump sums into their pension funds. They aren't going to investigate anything worthwhile or productive. | dafrog
20/9/2013 17:37 | Thanks MIATA, makes sense, the FCA should look into it. | freedom97
20/9/2013 17:25 | Re rumour, often such rumours are floated the day before options expiry. However as BP is held in the US as well it may well have been floated for US expiry. In the US the expiry of quarterly options is priced at the opening rather than at the close (which is used for the remaining months) so they managed to hold up the price before the rumour was discounted. | miata
20/9/2013 17:14 | Options expiry perhaps? | alphorn
20/9/2013 17:07 | Anyone know who started this bid rumour? and I don't mean on this BB, was it an institution perhaps wanting to sell into the rise?? | freedom97

20/9/2013 12:27 | Where did 83441 go? | bracke
20/9/2013 12:20 | 83441 zapped. BP rises amid vague talk of Exxon Mobil interest The oil company's shares have climbed 7.55p to 447.65p or 1.7% on vague talk that US rival Exxon Mobil could be interested. Traders said they were taking the tale with a pinch of salt, and pointed out that BP had just announced it had bought back 4m shares for cancellation at around £4 each. | miata
20/9/2013 11:58 | BE The Friday rumour of choice is that Exxon's going to buy BP. BP PLC (BP.:LSE): Last: 447.29, up 7.19 (+1.63%), High: 448.15, Low: 438.15, Volume: 13.79m BE No idea where that one's popped up from. Seems leftfield. PM The BP admin costs story -- mentioned on the right -- is here: BE Which demonstrates that BP, I'd have thought, had a couple of operational issues to settle first. BE Anyway, nothing to add there. I note it merely in passing, and without prejudice. | miata
20/9/2013 11:18 | #83434 or Halliburton Good rise a response to BP beginning to fight back? #83418 | prambigear
