Britain an Economic Basket Case:
Trump says Starmer is making a ‘very big mistake’ as president-elect blasts UK's energy plans
The US president-elect called on the prime minister to “open up” the North Sea for fossil fuel extraction and told him to “get rid of windmills” used to generate clean energy.
Mr Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform: “The U.K. is making a very big mistake. Open up the North Sea. Get rid of Windmills!”
Labour is scrambling to hit its net zero target of generating 100% of the UK’s electricity from clean power sources by 2030.
The prime minister and his energy secretary Ed Miliband have said they would not issue any new licenses for oil and gas firms to drill in the North Sea to help meet this goals.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has also announced that the government is raise taxes for oil and gas producers, while providing subsidies for new wind and solar power projects. |

BP commences gas flow at Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project
The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project extracts gas from wells in waters as deep as 2,850m, processing it on an FPSO vessel located 40km offshore
BP has initiated gas flow at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) Phase 1 liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, located along the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal.
The project is designed to produce up to 2.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG.
The GTA development involves extracting gas from wells situated in water depths of up to 2,850m and processing it on a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel positioned 40km offshore.
The gas is treated to remove impurities, condensate, and water before being transported via pipeline to a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel 10km offshore.
The FLNG facility will liquefy the gas for storage and export, with a portion allocated to meet energy needs in Mauritania and Senegal. |

Yes they are private companies which are given drilling rights by the UK government plus they get huge grants for the government if they delisted this would be gone, trust me as a BP shareholder I would love to see them list in the US we would be looking at 1000p a share plus |
I'm not sure you're right there. They are private companies! |
86% of Shells net sales are outside the UK |
Neither BP or shell will be able to delist from the LSE the UK government would not allow it they would revoke licences and concessions it would hurt the company |
if shell left, i bet the market would value us at £6+. |
Shell is doing really well this morning. BP. are currently 2nd not doing so well. I hope Murray A gets a grip on the share price this year. Happy New Year, hopefully for long-term holders |
TBF having a look, i guess most of you must still be well in the money in capital terms, plus the yield of course
