10/1/2003 00:20 | I am a shorter of Boots via a spreadbet and have the same view. It has been rather erratic recently with daily swings up and down of up to 20 points. When are they due to make a trading statement. I must admit with some of their upward swings I have been tempted to close my position. | denny
09/1/2003 22:50 | pjw956 - many thanks for your kind and clear explanation fasteddie - Stuart Rose suggestion has been in the news and would be good for the company and the shares but it may be just wishfull thinking | jarbie
09/1/2003 18:22 | Whats this I hear that a certain Mr Stuart Rose is a possible contender for chief excec? Anyone heard anything similar? | fasteddie
09/1/2003 18:03 | jarbie the meanings are listed on this site somewhere, I can't remember where though. but simply O is an ordinary trade by jo punter through a broker AT an automated trade by the big boys UT the trade in the wash up at 4.35pm VW volume weighted trade, usually large trade of a bundle of shares at an average price of whatever is marked P protected trade, usually goes through at a penny or more above typical trading price if buying or 1p less if selling, probably down to when the money changes hands? X a cross trade through market maker N can't remember ! L a late trade posted beware that in busy times not all trades recorded are accurately recorded against buy or sale.and depending on the company one market maker may be trading at a different price from another. ADVFN just try to guess whether its a buy or sell , based on their knowledge of marked prices. they are usually fairly close............... not always a clue, more people buy than sell price generally goes up, but as jo public you never know what the market makers are up to, could be filling large buy and sell orders in the background....we will never know. The threat of large scale selling will also pull down the price even if actually never happens. sentiment rather than actions is currently playing a big role in the market. | pjw956
09/1/2003 17:00 | I agree the large hourly swings , would someone let me know please what do the trade descriptions such as o , p , ut , at, vw , n , etc mean , also in the next columns c & t , do they provide any clues ? | jarbie
08/1/2003 18:43 | not many visitors to this site. I am not a boots holder but if any of you are out there then I would sell now before the trade announcement. In all my local boots stores I have never seen so much reduced christmas stock in my life ! there are rows and rows of it up in here in the north west. The margins are going to take an absolute hammering. Toys, clothes , gifts, fragrances, gift sets, gift wrap, candles, soaps , and so it goes on. | pjw956
06/1/2003 00:32 | is boot gonna get a kickin or will the mass of cold remedys and ailment sales improve their position?....all the best | l2e

28/12/2002 11:15 | This thread is all far too negative. Boots high street stores seem to be pleasant modern bright busy shops with good products and reasonable prices. Their Airport shops ditto. The supermarkets are competition but they are not generally in the high street and Boots have a very sound image for price/quality to the consumer. Provided the bad diversifications are dumped with the old management this seems a fairly priced stock with a reasonable yield and prospects. Hold-Long Term. | fortyfive
24/12/2002 11:08 | What utter twaddle. It's not a growth company, granted, but nor is it priced like one. It's on a p/e of 11 and yields 5%. Seems reasonable enough to me. | muttonhead
17/12/2002 01:23 | I would have thought that sacking the top 2 was an admission of failure and they still have to find a suitable person and you still won't know if he'll get on with the lower management. In the meantime, the stores are going backward. Another change just adds another risk dimension, which will be agood play if the price was more like 450p. | yf23_1
17/12/2002 01:11 | back in the game for boot....new board...clean up....nice....all the best | l2e
13/12/2002 11:12 | I think next week will be an interesting one for Boots with the 500p level being tested. We will see... | goliard
13/12/2002 10:25 | 500p is the next support. Why are they wasting the money buying up the shares ? The company can buy a lot more at the lower level. | smdea
10/12/2002 13:55 | well already 45p off its recent peak --- when will we see 400p ? | bigboyo
20/11/2002 00:10 | forecast eps 31 MAR 03 46.8 31 MAR 03 48.9 not exactly a growth stock | chris001
20/11/2002 00:03 | hi bigboyo they spent 300 mil last half, it's the only thing keeping the share price up | chris001
19/11/2002 23:13 | this share looks like it's on the way down, see what happens tomorrow | chris001
19/11/2002 20:11 | Hi Bigboyo I hope you found the Seymour Pierce site informative, sorry I can't help you with my other source's of information has they are either premium or security coded via my stock broker. Personally I would not invest in Boots it does not meet my criteria ( I mainly invest in small growth shares ) unless like you said it drops to a very low p/e of 7, then I might think about it, but I do think NXT would be a better trading share to go into. 770 to 890 I agree with your opinion on MOSB, why people buy these shares I don't know, it need's to much to happen to turn the company around. But thats IMHO | chris001
19/11/2002 13:11 | chris001 if it reaches a p/e of say 7-8 than i would definately buy in providing that the OFT report wasn't tooo damaging -- the price has to fall a lot before that happens ! realsitically at that p/e a non growth stock that could just be a cash cow for maybe a 5-6% divi ? | bigboyo
19/11/2002 10:43 | chris001 where is the 400 mil figure from --- would imapct eps by circa 10% if true wouldn't it ? better close my shorts then ! | bigboyo
19/11/2002 09:35 | chuk they got another 400 million to spend on shares in the second half | chris001
18/11/2002 09:48 | anyone know when the buyback stops? tia | chuk |
