Mike Ashley lost more than £200 million betting that HBOS shares would recover.

Sports clothing retailer Mike Ashley took a series of huge positions in HBOS with several City spread-betting firms in the expectation that the bank's shares would recover.

However, the collapse in the HBOS share price left him facing daily margin calls (demands for cash to cover his positions) and he eventually lost in excess of £200 million.

The point you keep on repeating would be much more plausible and valid, if it wasn't for the fact that Frasers Group also has large stakes in Hugo Boss, AO World, Currys, N Brown Group, Hornby Toys, Mulberry Group, ASOS as well as Boohoo. (Incidentally Frasers' are currently losing money on most of them)

Previous bets by Frasers Group on other troubled retailers have not delivered very good results for Frasers' shareholders. Back in 2019, their 30% stake in Debenhams, was at one point valued at £180 Million before Debenhams went bankrupt and the shares became worthless.

More recently, just two months after purchasing online clothes retailer Matches Fashion for £52 million, Frasers Group put the business into administration, before shutting it down.

Strange how you conveniently forgot to mention the fact that Frasers Group are losing heavily on most of their "strategic investments" including Boohoo and ASOS.

OK folks, don’t laugh too much, but apparently Boohoo’s Head of Supply Chain Development, Michaek Kosciukiewicz, is going to lecture the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport on the 19th September, about how Boohoo PLC managed to record a financial loss of £159.9 Million for the last financial year !!

It should be an interesting speech for sure, but will Mr Kosciukiewicz actually have the cohones to come clean and spill the beans on all the senior management failings going on inside the Boohoo Boardroom ??
