Hi QS, it's still breathing and no longer on life support. Occasionally there is a tweet as the chicks hatch their cunning plan. Let me know when you think they will be ready for the Kabwe fried chicken shop.

A further pullback in the zinc/lead premium is likely to last only for a short period as zinc shortages deepen and prices resume their uptrend, said Richard Fu, head of Asia and Pacific at Amalgamated Metal Trading in London.LOLsss

Hmmm 🤔 interesting 💭...(if I'm not mistaken 🙇)...thought large scale 'prospecting licenses' were renewable every 2 years, under Zambian mining guidelines ? 🤓

...either way, who cares 🙄 just as long as Bushback retain the title deeds to the license 👍

However, this project is of enormous importance, as it is widely known within the zinc community that the “STAR ZINC” concession is situated on top of one of the world’s largest ore veins, which with further and more extensive testing is estimated to uncover zinc reserves of well over 5 million tones, the value of this metal would be worth approximately US$2.2 billion dollars at today’s metal prices.

There we go! Like the hyperbole.

EXPLORATION AND MINING LIMITED [TEAM], a ZAMBIAN mining and development company are in possession of a bankable feasibility study supported by the TRADE AND ENTERPRISE SUPPORT FACILITY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, which focuses on the “STAR ZINC” mine, which is a 850,000 tones zinc resource in rural Kabwe, in ZAMBIA having contained metal worth approximately US $450 million at today’s metal prices.

Stav - just having a gander at other potential Zinc resources in Zambia and Star, excelsior and Bob are some where exploration had taken place. The zinc resource at Star appeared to be the one to go for when the Alikhani hunt for Red October or copper took place. The focus on Zinc tailings in Zambia is short lived as Kabwe is the only large Zinc mine. It appeared to be a better strategy to look for other Zinc deposits and Star fitted the bill. There are a few but Star would support a longer plant life at Kabwe. Seems AB thinks so too. I'll have a dig around again, as some of the literature from previous looks at Star have some hyperboles regarding the volumes of Zinc rich ore lol.

LJC on LSE.....

Lee reading the recent WB and Zambian Government initiatives, Zambian mining is likely to be far more strictly controlled and expensive in future.

Whilst this is a good thing, it will directly impact all mining operations in Zambia and put further stresses on profitability in a market sector that is already reeling from other downward market forces.

I suppose the upside is that there is lots of secondhand equipment up for grabs, as mines go to the wall.

Investment Opportunity

Trans-Africa Exploration and Mining Limited intends to commence development of Star Zinc mine situated in the Lusaka province of Zambia some 19km north of the provincial capital of Lusaka and 1.6km west of the Great North Road.

Star Zinc Mine will be an open-pit operation moving approximately 100 000t of Zinc ore per annum and will produce zinc concentrate an average of 13 500t of Zinc metal per year over a fifteen (15) year mine life making Star Zinc the only and largest zinc mine in Zambia.

The plant shall be located on a plot area of 51.2 hectares (800m x 640m). The total developmental activity will include civil engineering works involving the construction of roads sewerage and drainage infrastructure. The project is designed to take into account its environmental impact on the area by building a tailings pond to contain affluent from the electro-winning plant and recycle the water to the processing plant. In addition it will abide to effluent limits for zinc, sulphate and dust emissions as set by the Environmental Council of Zambia.

Further the development activity will include the construction of water storage facilities and connecting electric power supply to ZESCO grid with an installed power capacity of 100KVA.

We are ready to answer the queries of interested investors.

How come you were looking? I always thought that there is enough Zinc resource and potential at our existing Kabwe site. Just look at our own published figures?

This acquisition must be to do with the grade and compatibility of the new ore with our proposed tailing process as much as extending the lifetime and profitability of BMR. Otherwise why do we need all the initial capital costs associated with startup mining, even a simple open pit, plus the running, and haulage costs to our site 90kms away. It must potentially be very high grade and easily processed, to get BMR spending its limited shekels.

Anyway, pray enlighten us if you have insight from your reading, as I was focused on profitable production at Kabwe.

FB......

"I was reading up on the Star Zinc deposit last night as it is one of the few where exploration and assessment has taken place. We needed another area of Zinc to augment the Kabwe resource. There are supposedly other areas but little exploration. One company was reporting over 2billion of Zinc at Star was achievable, we shall see. There is another I believe called Bob Zinc. There is a fair bit of literature on Star. This is not an out on a limb copper Alikhani play, this is a considered acquisition to extend plant life. We could yet see a rather large processing facility at Kabwe. Well done the team and our new zinc mates ACI, very interesting".
