Same here, nowt yesterday. They say it was due to that Nasty Worm on the Web.
It seems SMSs are given lowish priority; dont know why, cos they are only tiny data packets - compared to graphics and music.

Still not 100% reliable, all my alerts failed yesterday.
But for a free service very good.

See the new website !! Its VERY much improved.

The suggestions I've made over many months are all there ! I've had no rewards at all, just the satisfaction of having contributed to this great site.

And it's STILL FREE !! They hope to keep it this way, with little adverts paying for it.

Genuine developments are happening at MyShareAlert.com - the messages sometimes come as emails (reason not clear yet).
Also longer messages. And more detailed info on the activity page.

Any comments about the changes ?
I find it needs more tedious button pushing (crucial price is now gone off bottom). This probably depends on the phone you have, size of screen etc.

Comments very welcome, it's all part of the testing process.

Maybe.... but then the fault could be at One2One who do the hardware stuff I understand.

Today has been beeping away fine, but sadly now everyone has eaten away the VOD cake and the TSCO cake - while I've been worrying about no alerts. Result - no profits for May. Dammit .

In fact, today has been a "bumper day" for alerts at MSA !

It seems MSA alerts are working very well, though it does depend on your network too, and the Virgin network has let me down a bit.

All my missing alerts came just after midnight. 12 of them !! Time sent by Lycos was sensible, so MSA is not guilty; Some kind of holdup at Virgin I suppose. If this goes on I will need another network.

Today seems much better.

Time of alerts was good for me today.

9.39 claims direct from 16.75 to 16.0
9.59 claims direct from 15.5 to 15.0
16.23 marconi up to 4.00

check these yourself.

Is comdirect sms ?

8 ball - Excellent news, hopefully the free alerts will stay free - that agrees with what I've heard. They also hope other sites will incorporate MSA seamlessly into their own site. (See their small footnote on 'partners'). So we might even see MSA being part of ADVFN !! Just wild speculation.

How about the suggestion that alerts are sent out on time? Sorry!

I haven't used the comdirect one yet, I may use it for index alerts which is one facility the other alerts haven't got (or in ADVFNs case got working properly). I am reasonably sure Comdirect alerts are free although you need to register.

I contacted mysharealert.com and they hope the service will continue to be free.
They hope to make money from adverts on alerts, and the web site.
They also welcome any sugestions to improve the service.

If anybody's tried www.focus.comdirect, let us know; is it free ? Does it work well ?

Sounds even more complicated than Email to sms conversion, I thought that was the whole point of SMS direct and simple!

Comdirect also provide alerts if anyone is interested, don't think you have to be a client although that might not be a bad idea.

Now I'm getting alerts from this morning. About 4 hours late. "Time sent" from Lycos is 4 hours ago.

Messages go MSA---Lycos---Virgin---One2One--- My Nokia.

and the holdup is somewhere between Lycos and my Nokia.

Seems ridiculously complicated, but it worked well for several days.

TODAY, MSA ALERTS WORKED AGAIN ! until 11 am anyway. Since 11 am , Virgin or Lycos is letting me down.

Hi Paul ! MSA Alerts are still FREE ! For details see the Tulip thread:

(I gave up printing, the "clever" Epson chip-on-a-cartridge-to-prevent-refilling business really annoyed me. The salespeople should warn us about these things ! But I think prices will come down, like discs did).

Test message from MSA :

Usual system - via Virgin to my Nokia (Always been good), test now fails.
Tried a test via BT Cellnet to Trium - worked.

I will contact Virgin if things are still failing tomorrow. The Nokia is nicer to use. Life is getting dead complicated, cos I can easily switch my Nokia over to One2One (by changing a wee chip) ... and do more tests.... then try Orange or Vodafone....

Dammit, no.... I like being on my Virgin Nokia.
