Yes, but the workflow of producing Blackbird codec video from Avid media does exist but needs a ‘Management217; decision to build it into a workflow.

It’s a big world and many have different needs I think we work best at enterprise large scale level.

Agreed. Also a key element not to overlook is the transferring of Avid encoded data into Blackbird. I said to my brother he should use the blackbird editor (he’s also an investor in it!) and he said it wasn’t viable because they had all the rushes in Avid format. I would’ve thought this is a key moment for the “faster than real time” ingestion message.

I think our product development should take into account improvements in collaboration tools.

Security we should be strong as we have a proprietary codec but on the conference call Blockchain was mentioned which has also long been mentioned here!

Not really since they are trying to rescue themselves in an Avid world on projects that are already on Avid.

However the realisation is they have to do something for the long term which should be our opportunity.

We have never had such a willingness to listen to companies offering Cloud solutions.

NickB. Did anyone mention Native cloud editing?

My brother is in the middle of editing a BBC doc at the moment and has had Avid machines delivered to his house. Now he’s saying he can’t discuss anything properly with the producer because it’s so hard to review the material/edits/ideas because of all the re-rendering and uploading etc. Seems that native cloud production is the only viable way.

Watched a Zoom conference call last night from Hollywood Post Production people.

Main subject was Remote editing

Context
They are trying to carry on Avid editing but working from home.

Takeaways

1. Desperate

2. Best solution done by one major company was to rip out all their computers from their office (100?) and let their editors take them home having copied a huge amount of data to portable drives. They had a head start of a few weeks as the boss had just come back from Italy and saw what was coming.

3 everyone looking for solutions

4. Virtualisation is SO expensive rather complex and requires really high bandwidth internet, impression I get is it doesn’t have legs for most

5 interestingly they think their world has changed Forever Remote and Cloud editing is here to stay.

6 Two features that are also important are
Security and great Collaboration features for team working.

Bonio.

Missed the boat.

7.5p would have been nice, but I was laid up in bed and it was the last thing on my mind.

Original Townnews deal was 23 April 2018.

Coincidence with timing of results?

However, looked at the initial press release and no mention of length of deal was included.
