19/3/2020 07:06 | Could someone please explain what 'virtualisation' is and how it stacks up against the cloud? I thought BIRD was the mutt's nuts and the only serious game in town? TIA | bluesbreaker
18/3/2020 23:42 | That’s a good point. I also bet a lot of U.K. (soho particularly) Post production companies will go under unless they get a bailout TV shows filming are also being shut down so no editing required anyway. Likes of Bloomberg and other news broadcasters which are our clients will want to continue and can easily dial up number of users on Blackbird. | nickb
18/3/2020 23:33 | I don't know, I expect most companies are a total mess at the moment. Not the time to start looking for new solutions. | mcsean2164
18/3/2020 23:10 | Is the industry embracing virtualisation rather than blackbird for remote cloud editing? No sign of any increased demand being announced by Blackbird which is disappointing. | nickb
18/3/2020 23:05 | Editing in the Cloud using virtualisation Interesting cost breakdown … 2 Michael Kammes @michaelkammes · 6h I get asked a lot about cloud editing pricing. Here's your ballpark: Monthly User Cost (Windows apps, like Adobe, Resolve) ~$400: edit system ~$400: infrastructure ~$200-$300: service (a la BeBop) ~$300/TB + your app license Avid ~$3000: edit, infra, service ~$325/TB No Mac. | nickb
17/3/2020 21:14 | Well then way off topic. New investors (probably going to be a lot). New ISA season is open not difficult to do, I use III, my wife uses Iweb.. register a stocks and ISA share account. If you have a National insurance number it quick. , Any share you buy (my case BIRD) is capital gains exempt. You don't have to buy any shares just get account. May sound stupid in the current situation, but once you have that logged or open an ISA , we don't actually have to put in real cash yet but have the option . It is for the whole year the allowance is £20k per year, yes you can stick £ from £1 - 20k in any market or share of your choice later and not pay capital gains tax if it comes right. BWTFDIK No advice rather talk to a proper expert. | sideshowbull
17/3/2020 21:01 | Well DOW closed up 1000points 5% | nickb
17/3/2020 20:34 | I enjoy the general market chat and find the different perspectives interesting. I am a marine engineer and do not understand the mechanics of the markets as I understand the mechanics of a yacht. I can easily scroll past anything I don't want to read. | wgf1
17/3/2020 20:17 | Only PI's worrying about going off topic are the ones panicking. I have not sold any BIRD even though my ISA looks like it needs a grant. BIRD is my first choice of all the AIM stocks currently, in this correction and possible depression. If banter really bothers the mass then I will refrain. BWTFDIK | sideshowbull
17/3/2020 19:31 | It’s a chat room so will go OT at times. | nickb
17/3/2020 18:44 | Invest, traders/investors like myself (I am not Bonio BTW) only make these comments to try help the BIRD family. There are a multitude of issues that affect us in the general market and these directly impact on BIRD. There are hundreds of average Joes following this thread who have no idea how this works - I think a little comment on other markets is actually helpful. Now more than ever BIRD family may like a few insights into the major markets it is all so connected as we see. BWTFDIK PS holding all my BIRD #notgettingmybird. | sideshowbull
17/3/2020 18:18 | Hi Bonio. How about I don’t filter you but keep on enjoying your rational observations about BIRD and your rye comments without all the rubbish about gold and stuff ffs. | invest360
17/3/2020 16:34 | Brilliant! | nickb
17/3/2020 16:07 | NickB. Mine is. Made it this morning down the shed. | cabi1
17/3/2020 15:43 | Mcsean Is your video codec finished yet? | nickb
17/3/2020 14:02 | Happy for anyone to filter me. It's a free anonymous BB ffs with a share without an RNS for 4 months. | bonio10000
17/3/2020 14:00 | I absolutely agree Invest360 - please no more Trump, Obama, Bitcoin or Gold. | pat_cash
17/3/2020 13:38 | BIRD should be inundated with enquiries spurred by the demand from staff who don't want to commute by train or on buses together with large companies that don't want key staff catching the virus ( I know personally of one EU multinational that has adopted home working for its staff as the default position. But what we get by way of news has, as bonio10000 has pointed out quite often, been singularly lacking in news of any actual deals. They may have been saving them for announcement at the now defunct NAB 2020 but its beginning to look like what they thought they had has walked away. Covid19 has inadvertently created some breathing space for the BoD but it will not last forever. What is now needed is solid evidence of regular, sustained sales that create shareholder value. Only then will the share price recover from the present level which has been achieved by a remarkably low volume of sales over the last 3 weeks. | chriscallen
17/3/2020 12:29 | No news for nearly 4 months..... | bonio10000
17/3/2020 10:36 | Mcsean Interesting Why do you not agree that it’s infinitely scalable? Traditional editing solutions have great difficulty scaling. You say that Ian doesn’t understand the sector (that he has spent his entire career in) but some how you do. We also have a strong balance sheet and no debt | nickb
17/3/2020 10:23 | I second that, Invest360. The FBT/BIRD boards have always stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of relevance and civility. Be nice to keep it that way :-) Be safe everybody. With schools surely about to close down, is there any opportunity for BIRD to assist with home schooling? | bluesbreaker
17/3/2020 10:20 | Blackbird is infinitely scalable Come on? Who writes this stuff?? It's time for bird to wake up. This could be the end of loss making companies. Im doesn't understand the sector and has proved this during his tenure. Sales, sales, sales. Stop dithering, focusing on the elite and sell the bloody product. | mcsean2164
17/3/2020 09:45 | Good morning all. I wonder if you’d mind if I make a request that we try and keep this thread just focused on blackbird where possible. Many Tx. | invest360 |
