I hold Billington shares

Steel prices are a headwind..but they get passed through to customers..all major contracts are pre inception fixed ..so no impact if the spot market moves post tender submission

I obviously expect the company to prosper as Covid impact dissipates...& their end markets are accelerating fast..hence demand for steel being at elevated levels

Good w/e to all

Big warning on input prices. They did flag up in the last update, but since then iron ore prices have skyrocketed, so have steel prices in the UK... Fully expect a profit warning next announcement. On top of that, the big supply chain crunch in the UK construction market means some projects might be delayed in timing, leading to delayed revenues slipping to next FY.

Look at the cash.
Then work out a cash adjusted PE for post covid earnings.

I'd say good value indeed.
Have a look at the earnings increases too. Obviously minus 2020.

There are 12.9m shares issued, market cap £42m.
Compared with Severfield, Biln looks good value.

It's always most competitive when all hands are clawing for the life raft.

Billington aren't even in the water. They will hit the ground running when things improve. When long lead time projects go out to tender the fragility of service providers are heavily considered - more now than ever due to Covid fallout.

Billington are in a strong position IMO.

Fair point re competition BUT this doesn't tie in with "market remains verey competitive..." comment by CEO

Might end the day blue.

Something to remember is that some of Billingtons competition may have been decimated over the last year. Billington are ready to rock and roll as things improve!

It looks like things are starting to return to normal although not much can be concluded regarding long term prospects from 2020.

Numerous empty trailers parked on the company's Bristol forecourt this morning when I drove past hopefully just associated with the Easter holiday period.

Annual results announced on 21st April last year.

Potential Liberty risk of disrupted steel supply, if they go into administration? Not sure if Billington uses them.

With a decent broker you can trade within the quoted spread.

With annual results just a couple of months away, thought I might beat the rush and add a few more to the BILN kitty. The Market Manipulators quickly put a stop to that idea quoting an online spread of 18p (300/318p); I can already hear mutterings of 'illiquid'. Of course it is with a spread of 6%, give shareholders a chance and the situation might change.

A little disappointed no trading update to date.
They must have some idea by now as to their year end position and future order book/prospects, or are they perhaps waiting to land some big orders then announce?
Hopefully, trading is still in line with previous guidance.

Obviously steel prices are a headwind...having discussed the topic with the company many times over the years (including mast week)I can confirm that they are generally 80% fixed at point of tender submission..thus wider market price moves only impact the part of the 20% that they can’t pass on cost variation to...so not ideal but dealable with

The demise of a competitor is bad for them/their employees but healthy for the wider market as it takes capacity out...it also encourages customers to stick to dealing with those suppliers who have a robust cash rich balance sheet...which is good for Billington
