01/12/2004 11:44 | BG : Holding out for the 95p - need it to break even. | fatmansays
01/12/2004 08:32 | The larger Shareholders get the management they deserve, but us relatively small players have little say and have to compensate for our powerlessness by being more intelligent than city folk. | bigface
01/12/2004 08:22 | Maybe someone should pose the question to management "How much money do you expect to receive yourselves (excluding share sales) from completing the deal despite the slide in the share price?" | factsonly
01/12/2004 08:20 | old crow - I see what you mean... if the existing management get some large pay-off in the process, that would really pee off existing shareholders. Managers shouldn't get any pay-off whatsoever, they should think/act like shareholders, i.e. what is the best buck I can get for my shares? They gave in too early. | factsonly
01/12/2004 06:13 | factsonly, overnight my thoughts were, who's scratching who's back on this one, why did management cave in at this price. | old crow
30/11/2004 19:29 | Fatman - nice one on the 250K - your bravery has been rewarded - can you get out at profit now? If I were in your shoes i would sell at least half, but something tells me you are going to risk it til the end!! This is by no means a guaranteed offer. Still ifs and buts!! | bigface
30/11/2004 17:44 | Good deal for Bauger if it goes ahead... I wish I end up playing poker with some of the Iceland management someday, coz i fancy taking easy money from them. They should have held out for more... or even sell some stores to Aldi. | factsonly
30/11/2004 16:50 | Stick another £75 on loss at 95p offer less any dealing cost if any, providing you can believe anything these people say, having said that the Crows still holding 5O% at a slight loss and may sell in the morning, not worth any more bother. | old crow
30/11/2004 16:34 | i have big food for £3000 pounds at 200. have i lost £1500 pounds? | rogerman
30/11/2004 15:34 | There seems to be a lot of action on Somerfield as well. All on the day that Sainsbury announced the purchase of more convenience stores. | kingdwg
30/11/2004 15:32 | what was it buffett said ? "when a business with a poor reputation meets a management with a good reputation, the business reputation remains in tact" ? | madgooner
30/11/2004 15:30 | Certainly takes some working out. You can be sure the execs will come out of it well ahead. | kingdwg
30/11/2004 15:26 | king, admit it, they have sent us all round the bend, with their BIG FOOL PATTER. Cheers | old crow
30/11/2004 15:20 | From when I read the RNS there were 12 deals on the buy side of SETS totalling over a million which didn't seem to make sense but since about 14:00 there's been massive volume on the sell side including 3 x 2 million O trades which was what I would have expected following the announcement although strangely the price is still unmoved. | kingdwg
30/11/2004 15:08 | king, will try, briefly do you trust these people. We will,we may, perhaps, well maybe,it could all fall through, trust us and so forth. Do you get a feeling of being brainwashed. What say you. Cheers | old crow
30/11/2004 15:01 | Please explain old crow. | kingdwg
30/11/2004 14:51 | What a laugh, what a plonker. Keep Crowing, but not this on board!! | old crow
30/11/2004 14:15 | Lot of heavy trades since the announcement, why? Either they think there's going to be a counterbid or it's short covering. There's certainly not enough between the current offer price (92.75) and 95p to make a worthwhile turn. | kingdwg
30/11/2004 13:20 | Some what relieved, albeit 95p is a tad dissapointing. Ridiculous risk on my part. all downside tiny upside. Come on out Aldi - 105p will do it. | fatmansays
29/11/2004 13:54 | Hi BG Going for broke on this one. Upped holding to 250K. Can't believe they'd still be talking if they are not at least in the same ball park. Braced for a blood rush either way. | fatmansays
29/11/2004 13:40 | Doesn't feel right does it fatma? | bigface
29/11/2004 11:39 | Feeling a bit like a 'Lamped Rabbit'. Sitting Still. | fatmansays
28/11/2004 22:34 | I have to say that (at this stage) 100p is optimistic. 95 a little on teh high side. Things have changed, but I would be delighted for you if yopu got your 100p. You deserve it for being so brave!! I'll stick to my advice - the next time it spikes on rumour of a proper offer sell half. Thanks for the tips looking them up - Still not holding anything - would buy egg back ay 90 - 91 but personal credit problems and bankruptcies will start to hit the banks generally over time. | bigface
28/11/2004 21:37 | kingdwg - As you've probably gathered from my previous comments that I would and do think the article is pretty correct. All the other articles in other papers were very much scare mongering, imho it was negative rumours spread by shorters or other parties that had money to gain from doing so (not mentioning any names). Another reason why I think it is correct is because I can't see management wanting to eat humble pie after recommending any offer of 110p+ and then accepting any offer way below that, ie a cut of over 10% is very humiliating for them and they know Bauger have a lot to lose moneywise and reputationwise if they walk. Bauger probably also realised that the management would reject any first offer they made anyway, so pitched it lower than what they are actually willing to pay. I can see the next bid coming back at 100p+ and with the next dividend thrown in too. | factsonly
28/11/2004 12:22 | BFP still hopes for Bauger deal Apparently they've offered 95 but Bill's holding out for 105. | kingdwg |
