indexed linked gov bonds assume a very low rate of inflation going forward.
if you are worried that is where you should be.
an indexed linked income also. as safe as possible.

rogers stating that food will get dearer with an upcoming 9 billion world population is stated the obvious.

trouble is that it does not keep.
very expensive to distribute also.
hard to work out how to cash in.

'$/£ could come back strongly with some good management.'

True, but very unlikley. We will get 'bad management' till the whole thing blows up and western capitalism collapses in the disgrace worthy of such a massive ponzi scheme.

'gold will collapse.'

Perhaps, but will it happen in your lifetime?

Buy Gold!
Puru Saxena
Oct 8, 2009

Two days ago, the price of gold broke out to a new high and we are delighted with this result. As you will recall, we were expecting an upward breakout in gold and it looks as though its price will now surge over the following months. It is noteworthy that since the breakout occurred, gold has managed to stay above the previous high. The longer the price of gold stays above US$1,030, the greater the probability that the yellow metal will stage a spectacular rally until spring next year.

It is our contention that this breakout is the real deal and the pathetic action of the US Dollar Index supports our view. Rather than rally, the American currency has embarked on another southbound journey and this is extremely bullish for gold.

I heard Jim was looking at African Consolidated Resources (AFCR) ? I hope so, as many shrewd funds have already bought in at 9p on the improving Zimbabwe situation and its now 12/13p and could well reap spectacular rewards for long term holders, could well be a multi bagger in the making.

The demise of the dollar

In a graphic illustration of the new world order, Arab states have launched secret moves with China, Russia and France to stop using the US currency for oil trading

By Robert Fisk

Tuesday, 6 October 2009

In the most profound financial change in recent Middle East history, Gulf Arabs are planning – along with China, Russia, Japan and France – to end dollar dealings for oil, moving instead to a basket of currencies including the Japanese yen and Chinese yuan, the euro, gold and a new, unified currency planned for nations in the Gulf Co-operation Council, including Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Qatar.

UN calls for new reserve currency

AFP
Tuesday, Oct 6th, 2009

The United Nations called on Tuesday for a new global reserve currency to end dollar supremacy which has allowed the United States the "privilege" of building a huge trade deficit.

"Important progress in managing imbalances can be made by reducing the reserve currency country's 'privilege' to run external deficits in order to provide international liquidity," UN undersecretary-general for economic and social affairs, Sha Zukang, said.

Speaking at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Istanbul, he said: "It is timely to emphasise that such a system also creates a more equitable method of sharing the seigniorage derived from providing global liquidity."

He said: "Greater use of a truly global reserve currency, such as the IMF's special drawing rights (SDRs), enables the seigniorage gained to be deployed for development purposes,".

Craig Pirrong: Argument For Position Limits 'Nonexistent'

Written by Lara Crigger

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission isn't expected to deliver its final verdict on new position limits and other market restrictions until later this month, but already we've seen plenty of reaction, including DXO's liquidation and the development of new indices.

Expect it to continue, says Dr. Craig Pirrong, professor of finance for the University of Houston and Energy Markets Director for the school's Global Energy Management Institute. A highly regarded expert in derivatives and the commodities markets, Dr. Pirrong has written three books and a slew of published articles. He regularly shares his thoughts about everything from dark pools to cap-and-trade at his blog, The Streetwise Professor.

Recently, HAI Associate Editor Lara Crigger chatted with Dr. Pirrong about his thoughts on the CFTC's proposed regulations, including why everyone blames the speculators, whether position limits can reduce volatility and why tighter regulations will just send investors overseas.

CAUTION: Crash/Collapse Dead Ahead Say Faber, Rogers, Dent and Celente

Author: Mac Slavo- October 2nd, 2009

After a massive upswing in US stocks over the last six months, the recent rally may finally be coming to an end. It seems that the trend of rising stocks on bad or better than expected news may be in a reversal, as evidenced by market participants' caution over the last couple of weeks. For those that follow contrarian investors like Marc Faber, Jim Rogers, Gerald Celente and Harry Dent, this should come as no surprise.

You really ought to be aware Silver and Gold are not base metals, they are precious metals.
