ebomber, does that mean reduce their exposure by reducing likely clients that might be at risk,or it is a physical action to remove asbestos products from buildings at risk.
clarification would be appreciated

thanks

Thought the Asbestos article in the Sunday Herald gave a good overview of the situation.

Halliburton have been hammered this year due to asbestos claims. They have over 200,000 claiments. This could affect lots of oil and insurance companies in the forthcoming years.

Invensys(ISYS) Thursday is reporting day,but there is again a cloud on the horizen.

This time its an asbestos cloud, apparently the UK factory might well be at risk from asbestos litigation.

On Thursday we should know the worst, or should i say the Best.

Expect Siemens to fall during the week from a double wamy.

Pensions Shortfall and yes you have guessed right, possible asbestos claims which willing apparently be nothing like the scale of ABB.

We shall see. Siemens much like Alstom seems to have been indemnified by previous owners of the asbestos hit co.s

After reading the Les Echos,it seems that again Alstom has not managed to convince the market that there is little or no risk from Asbestos claims.

Expect Alstom to fall to day. Disappointed.

Well Alstom fell something like 10% after Bilger stated that there was 160 asbestos cases.

100 of these cases are related to the purchase of Combustion Engineering from ABB.Apparently the good news for Alstom, is that ABB agreed to indemnify Alstom for the costs involved.

60 of some 6500 cases are unrelated to the above, and according to Alstom there should be no financial impact. Lawyers have said that the 60 claimants will get no more than $10 Million. Alstom said it would not pay spurious case.

No doubt it will become clearer as the days and weeks go by.

Apparently Alstom has stated that its Asbestos liability exposure is minimal.

Lets hope so,because i don`t think it can take an other hit.

i see that Biliger has been replaced by some one from the French Insurance Association.

Bloomberg mentioned this morning that Alstom is affected by asbestos exposure, but gives no details.

Can anyone clarify whether Alstom has been implicated in this asbestos fiasco.

People seem to have some how tarred Alstom with the same brush as Saint Gobain,ABB and Alfa Laval.

i feel it might be a case of mistaken identity.
