I thought the results looked good. Strange market reaction? What have they seen that we haven't?

I agree the results do look good. Strong growth in cyber, good rate increases put through and reserves look fairly prudent given consistent releases. I hope some of the underwriting discipline of recent years continues and that cyber really becomes a mainstream cover internationally. I have taken a starter position.

Great results from Beazley.Return to profitability and dividend resumption. Beazley plc results for year ended 31 December 2021-- Profit before tax of $369.2m (2020: Loss $50.4m) -- Return on equity of 16% (2020: (3%)) -- Gross premiums written increased by 30% to $4,618.9m (2020: $3,563.8m) -- Combined ratio of 93% (2020: 109%) -- Rate increase on renewal portfolio of 24% (2020: 15%) -- Prior year reserve releases of $209.8m (2020: $93.1m) -- Net investment income of $116.4m (2020: $188.1m) -- Interim dividend declared of 12.9p for the full year of 2021 (2020: nil)

Continued momentum so far this year. Still a month or so until financial news. Wouldn’t be that surprising if this stock receives a bid before too long.

Thanks so much for the link - Alexandra's thoughts/instincts on BEZ tie in exactly with my (less well thought out) views (have been invested since 2014, previously invested in insurer Amlin).

Maybe the last few days price movement are bearing out her sentiment re. share price ?

Beazley plc is an insurance company with segments including Life, accident & health, Marine, Political risks & contingency, Property, Reinsurance and Specialty lines. Current market cap is £2.2b.

BEZ today provided an encouraging set of results for the 6-month period ended June 2021. Gross premiums written increased by 22% to $2,035.3 (30 June 2020: $1,663.9m), Profit before tax swung back significantly into positive territory to $167.3m (30 June 2020: Loss before tax of $13.8m), as did RoE (annualised) to +15%.This translated into an EPS of 18.9p, versus EPS -1.7p a year ago.

Agree good company - could be in the sights of a takeover particularly as its portfolio volatility is less than others and therefore attractive

Oh yes. Must admit, when I saw no dividend reinstated I sold at 419. Think this will drift back now - looking to re-enter at 370 - before a good run to Feb statement and almost certain reinstatement of dividend. After that, £5 plus I suspect. Good company.

Looking for a nice steady run up to the statement on 5 November - when am expecting momentum to be maintained and dividend reinstated. Hopefully will leave us settling in the 475-500 range by Christmas.

Every morning this week ( I think) this share has opened 10p or so higher than previous closing price, before falling back to gurgle along at around 380. Pondering why...
