Well, you know the way this company works, and they have the money ready for that acquisition...

IC tipped them as a buy. Personally I think they're going to be pushed to make the brokers forecasts without an acquisition but happy to be proved wrong.

The T trade of 53k was undoubtedly a buy not a sell as reported

Yep, they look great. Should see a good press write up over the weekend.

my sense is that results are well up with expectations. suspect increased coverage will encourage a wider audience and increased buying - possibly after the weekend. EPS growth of 77% and profit of 104% can't be bad! Also note the gross profit margin increased from 58% to 63%. onwards and upwards!

As suggested in post 73, I have top sliced from IDH and put into BBI.

Axis? I remember BB posts on that one in the days of ESI which were like the Encyclopedia Brittanica!

Since the last results:

Turonver up 53% (Sept annoucemment) , 40 pct of which came from organic
growth and the remaining 13 pct from acquisitions. SO what are the acquisitions?

On 18 April 2006, the Group agreed to acquire Alchemy Laboratories Limited ("
Alchemy"), a Dundee-based rapid result diagnostic test company, for #4.5 million in cash and shares. This acquisition will help expand BBI's service portfolio and provide capacity to take on new manufacturing contracts.

The Group raised #3.0 million before expenses (#2.7m net) through a placing of
new ordinary shares with #2.2 million to be used to satisfy the cash element of
the consideration and #500,000 to provide additional working capital for the
Group.

On 4 July 2006, the Group acquired 100% of the issued share capital of both
Audiometrics Limited and CDx Limited The acquisition gives BBI exclusive distribution rights for the product within the UK and shared rights for the USA, Canada and India.

On 19 July 2006, the Group acquired 100% of the issued share capital of Qnostics Limited, a molecular quality control production company based in Glasgow, for a consideration of #522,500 in cash and shares.

On 21 July 2006, the Group announced its intention to exercise an option to
purchase a further 10% of the share capital of Quotient Diagnostics Limited at
an exercise price of #410,000.

I cannot work out a likely eps (but I'll guess at 3.0p vs 1.1p same period last yr) (edit this is anthe annualised amount) but they are implementaing one hell of an acquisiton strategy and I think the next two years will show how good they are at it.

Slowlly this company is getting noticed and the share price has happily reflected:
- turnover more than doubled in last two years
- profit up over ten fold in same period
- acquisition strategy that included taking over its biggest rival, instant value add
- draw down of £7m when they wqant so no rights issues in prospect
- and products which sell themselves

I shall add more this week, especially now I have made so much money from IDH today, and if you need me to tell you the connection you should DYOR a bit more : )

Market maker tree shake. Someone sold 2500 and they drop the offer (not the bid though!). Hold tight.

Yep, looks good melody. Can't see many people selling before the results so hopefully a few more buys will squeeze those mms further (they appear to be very short of stock at the moment).

Topped up as well this morning at 126p. The IMI loan is only a facility, and if drawn down, then we can judge the financing vs the acquisition target. Also it's convertible at BBI's option rather than IMI's. Also, I doubt IMI would sell anyway since they already have options over 20% of BBI at 100p and clearly are a big fan of the company.

Just bought into this today. Read in Moneyweek a few weeks ago that Patrick Evershed of New Star is a big fan. If a quality fund manager like that is in then I'm happy to hold a few. Also like the way the big seller was mopped up last week at 123.5p, implies there is some strong institutional support. Hopefully we'll see 140p plus again on results.

Daft the price has fallen imho - why, because the only way IMI get a return on the loan is be selling the shares they get at 125p at above the price of 125p. But why would they sell at say 135p if they believe the co will grow faster than a cash interest rate? IMI clearly have funds to cover a draw down anytime between now and March. My view is that both parties know the target here and also know that a share deal would not be appropriate.

answered my own question there then! now is this a good entry point? you would hope any acquisitions would be earnings enhancing
