Great news today - this couldn't be clearer that they are now in a great postion. The announcement states: "The Alchemy deal is a significantly earnings enhancing acquisition for BBI. Not only will we be absorbing our largest UK based competitor but we will also be bringing a highly successful, cash generative and profitable business into BBI." It is really importnat it is earning-enhncing becase they are placing shares to buy the company. Overall, this really should get the company into the business pages; it's so undervalued at present

yes it is but I think the 25% option a very high price to be paid. Short term pain for long term gain but unfortuntely it takes a lot fo the upside out of the share imho - short term atleast

BBI does not have a test for MRSA - it has licensed technology to an isothermal molecular technology for which a protoype test was developed for MRSA to another diagnostic company quoted on AIM. Nevertheless the announcement today is a positive announcement and the HSV market is substantial - the key question is how will the POC segment develop.

First deal of many this year.

I also sawa nice piece on Breakfast TV about the waring parties over MRSA. Showed a Birmingham hospital trialling new MRSA rprevention techniques I assume for NHS . They have silver coated curtain rails to ward off infection and and also they are trialling a 3 hour diagnostic test for MRSA. Currently it takes 72 hours or so if you read the RNS on 2August posted on here earlier.

Oh yes and guess who has the test BBI........

BBI SIGNS LICENSING AGREEMENT FOR RAPID DETECTION LABORATORY TEST FOR 'SUPER BUG'

BBI Holdings PLC, the Cardiff based AIM listed point of care diagnostics
company, today announced that it has licensed out its isothermal nucleic acid
technology to ImmunoDiagnostic Systems Limited ('IDS') a developer, manufacturer
and marketer of immunoassay kits.

BBI's isothermal nucleic acid technology will be developed further by IDS to
take an asset acquired by BBI from Cytocell Limited in February 2003 for the
rapid detection of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), commonly
referred to as the 'Super Bug', through to commercial use in a format suitable
for routine use.

In addition to the proposed launch of the MRSA test in 2005 IDS is hoping to
develop further tests for Hospital Acquired Infections and aims to have a test
for VRSA (ancomycin Resitant Staph aureus) in 2006, the latter starting to
appear in hospitals with a more deadly threat than MRSA.

The new test will considerably reduce the time it takes to obtain a result,
just three-and-a-half hours after an overnight enrichment culture. . Current
results on patients screened for MRSA are generally not available for between
forty-eight to seventy-two hours (source: Journal of Clinical Microbiology, July
2003, p. 3187) resulting in reduced patient throughput, considerable disruption
and substantial extra costs to hospitals.

50k sold and not budged - big buyers in wings trying to accumulate before the fireworks I believe.

DYOR etc but with all the R&D spent they have 5 projects due to launch in 2005. That should be great newsflow and also great profits and further rerating

Can understand your sentiment Chapman - the question really is short term vs long term and I guess if you can continually make 35% every 10 days the long term is of no consequence - I am one of those myopic sods who hang on for the long term
