Looks like its going to be one of those sessions in the Israeli listing where there'll be a few thousand traded in the morning and a grillion by the end of the day.

Just for those new to dual listings.
Todays close 142NIS or 34.5p
The price of shares of a dual-listed company on two different exchanges should be exactly the same after accounting for the exchange rate.

ie.... weakness or strength on one exchange is going to mirror in the other.

So the same is true for LSE ... If sentiment changes here and investors finally see a bargain and start buying in greater volumes then LSE will determine the running.
We could well see an end of the TASE index effect coupled with better LSE sentiment.
Markets are incredibly volatile more so than normal and not a place for the faint of heart.

Who'd have thought I totally agree..think the bad side already priced in and think things will indeed change once exit is done tomorrow. I also see tomorrow as being a positive , if the large shorts sniff that they may not get them all back it could get squeezy for a few days. Last added a few slightly lower but don't mind paying a bit higher once we see that direction of travel. Though as Oscar Wilde might have said ..To lose one index place may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like carelessness."

Oakville - tomorrow’s index rebalance is a very big deal for BVC. You’ve read all the posts already I’m sure, but just to drive home the point: this event has already caused us a lot of underperformance pain and it’s just not reasonable to hope that it wasn’t going to continue to do that all the way up to the very moment that the share’s exit from the TA-125 formally happens tomorrow afternoon. That includes today sadly…

Beginning to think there is no way this will ever see 40p again I get home see the FTSE and the yanks are up and the only stock I hold not to rise by more than 1% is my biggest holding. I get the impression that on results day they could say they have made a massive profit cured cancer and sorted out global warming. They would close the day down 1%

Another very constructive day in TA as volume is slightly elevated and the share price there looks like it will close up small. We really could be looking at a rebalance where more of the necessary sales are already covered by the existing short position and index fund long sales having completed some or all of their business already. I'm not saying that the rebal will see net buying, but today's price action in TA is further evidence that it is no longer a gimme that it won't be.

Could this be presented at a hedge fund conference as a long/short pairs trade?

Slightly earlier in previous years around 19th August...but yes a few weeks from some much needed clarity and progress updates and to be better able to work out if the share-price is indeed rather cheap and is not reflecting the true potential.

Just focus on the word outstanding..really is the key. Thought what was posted was pretty clear. Market cap is based on shares outstanding ..shares in treasury no longer are shares outstanding.

What you might be thinking of may be related to 'free float'. Sometimes index compilers will have a condition that inclusions must have a certain % of shares that are freely traded. Anything the Company buys back and leaves in Treasury would reduce the free float and in some indices reduce the likelihood of inclusion. I don't know if the TA-125 has any such conditions.

I don't understand. The "s you provided confirm what I wrote: 'Market cap—or market capitalization—;refers to the total value of all a company's shares of stock...' 'All' shares would include treasury shares unless and until they are cancelled

Not sure thats right market cap would be calculated on outstanding shares I'm pretty sure."Treasury stock, also known as treasury shares or reacquired stock, refers to previously outstanding stock that is bought back from stockholders by the issuing company. The result is that the total number of outstanding shares on the open market decreases. These shares are issued but no longer outstanding and are not included in the distribution of dividends or the calculation of earnings per share (EPS).""Market cap-or market capitalization-refers to the total value of all a company's shares of stock. It is calculated by multiplying the price of a stock by its total number of outstanding shares."I could of course be wrong.

The buyback would reduce the market cap only if the shares are cancelled which the Company hasn't opined on of course.

Looking at current constituents looks like market cap would have to be over 1000m nis..probably more like 1200m nis.So would need to be well into the 60's.If there was ever a share buyback of 10% of the outstanding equity then that would shrink the market cap and require further advance to qualify i guess, so that could be a double edged sword. Whether this played a part in delaying the buyback trying to hold onto index membership who knows? Can only hope that there is a positive imbalance on exit day and some shorts are left high and dry and some natural buyers come in.Hopefully there are no more indices for the company to fall out of ! They need a strong performance with the interims to regain shareholder enthusiasm and remind them of the potential. And a full explanation of what happened with the shareholder approved buy back.https://info.tase.co.il/Eng/MarketData/Indices/MarketCap/Pages/IndexComponents.aspx?IndexId=137

thank you fse. The irony is of course, given the Company's positive near-term prospects of solid interims, followed by the end of its closed period and the beginning of the buyback, followed - finally - by a significant and detailed research update from Shore Cap (this could be a real wild card in the share price journey over the next few months), followed by the likely continuation in positive, revenue-producing news as CityFibre rolls out into more locations in the UK and then abroad coupled with the entirely justifiable hope for more positive news out of other divisions where the macro story continues to improve, and we could very easily see a mysterious booster rocket kick in for the share price around October as the expectation increases that BVC could go right back into the TA-125 in the December review. If the Company executes on news that's already in the public domaine, and does so in an environment where shareholders finally don't have to worry about the kind of unprecedented non-economic selling that they've suffered this year so far, and I don't think that's in any way a pie-in-the-sky possibility. Some may see that as the very definition of a mixed blessing, but for me, I'd love to see it.

If I recall somewhat accurately BATM was admitted into TASE 125 at around 70p to 80p levels which would have given it a mkt cap of some 1,200 M NIS, its currently at mkt cap of 616M and has a % weighting in the index of .089

The short position was after reading echo's post looks like a no brainer and entirely sensible position to have taken with really very little risk as the company is severely undervalued. There is a lot of daylight above the share price so they are hardly going to get burned and this is a decent way of accumulating a larger number of shares.

I am disappointed that BATM or its brokers could have made a statement on the authorized share buy back even if they had simply commented they were unable at this point due to whatever....

In any event kudos again to echo on this one ...
