Israelis scientists: New anti-coronavirus vaccine for fowls is adaptable for humans
Feb 27, 2020 @ 11:43
Researches at Israel’s Ministries of Science and Technology and Agriculture told reporters on Thursday that the anti-coronavirus vaccine for fowls they developed in the past four years can be adapted for humans. They estimate that it would take around two months for preclinical tests and a third month to be ready for vaccinating humans – if it is approved by international medical monitoring authorities. The researchers confirm finding close genetic similarities between the virus infecting fowls and the strain currently raising fears of a global human pandemic. Their transmission mechanisms are identical, say the Israeli research teams, which are led by Prof. Yaakov Pitkovsky, Dr. Hen Katz and Dr. Ehud Shahar.

Link to Ador for the benefit of those new to the thread.
Ador/NatLab are well advanced past the developmental stage and starting to go into production. This is a later stage technology play for investors. Its a proven solution.

>car1pet.....The company said it is working with academic and research institutions, primarily in Europe, to make the kit affordable for large-scale production. BATM said laboratory bench tests will begin as soon as possible.

Should You Take Comfort From Insider Transactions At BATM Advanced Communications Ltd.
Simply Wall St January 25, 2020

We’ve lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. On the other hand, we’d be remiss not to mention that insider sales have been known to precede tough periods for a business. So we’ll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in BATM Advanced Communications Ltd. (LON:BVC).

Do Insider Transactions Matter?
Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock in the company. However, such insiders must disclose their trading activities, and not trade on inside information.

Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Columbia University study found that ‘insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers’.

See our latest analysis for BATM Advanced Communications

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At BATM Advanced Communications
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Non-Executive Chairman Gideon Chitayat bought UK£61k worth of shares at a price of UK£0.38 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of UK£0.46 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. If someone buys shares at well below current prices, it’s a good sign on balance, but keep in mind they may no longer see value. The good news for BATM Advanced Communications share holders is that insiders were buying at near the current price..............

A question for someone who knows more than me. I'm assuming that BATM will outsource or franchise the production of the diagnostic kits. If it works and is required all over the world I wouldn't have thought BATM has the production facilities to mass produce these kits. Am I right? If I am then the revenue will be some form of "commission" based revenue from the "distributors" of the kits. It would be interesting to know the projected revenue for it

Really the Corona spread has only highlighted what the company has been saying for some time. Its about speed to identify , contain spread, develop a vaccine. What BATM/ Ador are providing is of paramount importance. Re posting comments by the ceo...

"We believe that the strategy we adopted in our Bio-Medical division is proving to be correct, especially in light of the current COVID-19 outbreak. We are able now to quickly provide diagnostic kits for any new pathogen that appears.

"Furthermore, we have already received extremely positive feedback and significant interest from several leading medical institutions that have started testing the first panel of Ador's NATlab solution and adding COVID-19 will greatly strengthen its appeal and value."

Interesting phone interview with Zvi Marom (but poor quality sound).

“BATM Advanced Communications Limited's (LON:BVC) Zvi Marom speaks to Proactive London's Andrew Scott soon after announcing that its Bio-Medical division has successfully developed a new diagnostics kit to detect the coronavirus.
Production of the kit has already started and work is underway to adapt it for large scale production.”

Down 4% today. Is the excitement over now? I guess that in order for the covid19 analyser to generate lots of sales and revenue for BATM the outbreak needs to last longer. It looks like it will at the moment but if it wasn't for Italy and Iran it may have been contained and controlled. Mixed views about this -the longer it goes on the better for BATM but worse for all my other shares. I'm surprised by Vodafone going down so much its fallen from 155 to 136 in a week and yet with more and more people staying at home you would have thought the number of phone calls, texts etc would have increased and benefited telco shares. The market is so unpredictable

NCYT's first mention of a cononavirus test was on Tues. 28.1.20, but it only really started rising a couple of days later:

28/01/2020 07:00 UK Regulatory (RNS & others) Novacyt S.A. Full Year Trading and Operational Update
" ... Operational update
Development of new coronavirus test
Primerdesign is pleased to report that it is in the final stages of developing a new molecular novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) test as a direct response to the recent outbreak of the potentially deadly respiratory virus in China. The Company will make the test available as a research use only (RUO) test for use on Primerdesign's proprietary genesig(R) Q16 and Q32 instruments, as well as a number of other real-time PCR instruments commonly used in testing laboratories. A number of Novacyt's customers have already enquired about the availability of this test and orders have already been received.
This virus is of major concern as it is from the same family of viruses as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which emerged in China in 2002 and killed nearly 800 people worldwide. Authorities have recently confirmed that the virus can be passed from person to person via airborne transmission sparking concerns over the level of contagion. The World Health Organisation (WHO) reported that, as of 22 January, countries including the US, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Thailand and Korea are reporting the presence of this infection. The virus is not currently considered a global health emergency as designated by the WHO but this may change as more data becomes available. The Primerdesign test is therefore well positioned to quickly assist affected countries. ..."

And its rise was helped by follow-up RNSes:

31/01/2020 07:00 UK Regulatory (RNS & others) Novacyt S.A. Launch of novel coronavirus test

07/02/2020 07:01 UK Regulatory (RNS & others) Novacyt S.A. Update on novel coronavirus test

14/02/2020 15:20 UK Regulatory (RNS & others) Novacyt S.A. Update on CE Mark Approved coronavirus test

So at just 44.5p, I think there's a lot more to come from BVC.

And BVC's final results on Wednesday of next week (4th. March) should provide a good update.

Agree it’s unlikely to double from here. But the stock remains intrinsically undervalued. Remember 9mths ago we were talking about a sum of the parts valuation of 60p. This from IC:

‘I feel that my sum-of-the-parts valuation of 60p is a very realistic target to value the company’s equity at £262m, or treble the last reported net asset value of $100m after taking into account last month’s $17m (£14m) equity raise at 42.5p, details of which I covered in some detail in my last article. That’s because BATM now has net cash of $34.6m (£28.5m); the retained stake in Ador is worth £17.2m and could easily be worth double that valuation by the end of 2020; BATM’s 95 per cent stake in Adaltis, an Italian manufacturer of medical diagnostics equipment has a read-through valuation of £45m; and BATM owns conservatively valued property assets worth $16m (£13.2m).

Furthermore, even if you value BATM’s networking and cyber security division on 16 times last year’s operating profit then it’s still worth around $90m (£74m) as a standalone entity. Add to that the value embedded in the Arm Holdings partnership, and the rest of BATM’s biomedical division, too, and it’s really not difficult to arrive at a 60p sum-of-the-parts valuation. Fund manager Lombard Odier Asset Management clearly sees the investment potential – already BATM’s largest shareholder, it has just purchased 4.3m shares to lift its stake to 26.04 per cent of the 437m shares in issue.

Importantly, there is ample scope for positive news flow in the coming months to focus investors’ mind on BATM’s hidden balance sheet value, and the exciting commercial potential of its technology investments. A return to the April 2019 10-year share price high of 54p, and beyond looks a distinct possibility. Strong buy.”

Israel: BATM Develops Diagnostic Kit for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
27 February 2020|Allgemein, Innovation, Israel

BATM (LSE: BVC; A leading provider of real-time technology for network solutions and medical laboratory systems from Israel, based in Hod Hasharon (founded in 1992), announced today that its bio-medicine department has successfully developed a new diagnostic kit for the detection of coronavirus (COVID-19) Has.

In addition, this kit has been tested by several central laboratories and hospitals, which have now confirmed its ability to diagnose COVID-19.

The group started producing the kit at its Adaltis plant in Rome. BATM works with academic and research institutions, primarily in Europe, to further develop the kit and to manufacture it at a price that is suitable for large-scale production.

The kit, which supports all recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has already received interest from customers in several countries.

In addition, COVID-19 will be included in the Ador test kits as part of the travel panel. Laboratory tests on the test bench are expected to begin shortly.

Dr. Zvi Marom, CEO of BATM: “We believe that the strategy that we have adopted in our bio-medical department is proving to be correct, especially given the current COVID-19 outbreak. We are now able to quickly provide diagnostic kits for any emerging pathogen. In addition, we have already received extremely positive feedback and considerable interest from several leading medical institutions that have started testing the first panel of Adors NATlab solution, and the addition of COVID-19 will greatly increase its appeal and value. ”
