Barclays announces the appointment of Adam Abramson as a Managing Director and Head of Chemicals Banking, Americas. Mr. Abramson will be based in New York, and will report to Rob Jeffries, Vice Chairman and Global Head of Chemicals Banking at Barclays.

Mr. Abramson joins Barclays with close to 20 years of experience in banking, most recently as a Managing Director in the Chemicals Group at Deutsche Bank. In his career to date he has completed over 80 M&A and capital markets transactions, representing over $90 billion in cumulative transaction value. Notable transactions that Mr. Abramson has advised on include the $4.6 billion sale of Solutia Inc. to Eastman Chemical Company, the $1.2 billion sale of OM Group, Inc. to Apollo Global Management and Platform Specialty Products Corporation, and the sale of Vantage Specialty Chemicals to H.I.G Capital. He has also advised Quaker Chemical on the company’s pending $1.5 billion combination with Houghton International, Inc.

Barclays has been involved in a number of the most notable recent transactions in the Chemicals space, performing the roles of joint bookrunner on DowDuPont Inc’s $12.7 billion senior notes offering, joint global coordinator on Akzo Nobel Specialty Chemicals’ €5.5 billion-equivalent Term Loans, and exclusive financial advisor to Evonik on the pending €3.0 billion sale of its methacrylates business to Advent International.

Mr. Abramson will start at Barclays in August 2019.
