Barclays up 8 pence, opportunity to offload until Barclays show some prospect of growth £ $

As costs are extracted, Barclays aspires to grow revenues in areas like M&A, European rates, equity derivatives, and securitized products. Today's results are a reminder that this may not be so easy. While Deutsche Bank turned in a strong quarter, Barclays did not.

Barclays bank has reported a 12% drop in pre-tax profits for the last financial year.

The decline was partly due to lower income from deposits and mortgages, and weaker income from investment banking.

C. S. Venkatakrishnan, Barclays CEO, says the bank is focused on executing the shake-up plan announced in February (which will cut costs and jobs), adding:

We have now announced the sale of our performing Italian mortgage book and are investing in our higher returning UK consumer businesses, including through the expected completion of the Tesco Bank acquisition in Q424.

Barclays Q1 profit falls 12% as mortgage competition, deals drought hit

Barclays has today reported a 12% fall in first quarter profit, as a squeeze on UK mortgage pricing, lower income from trading and a drought of M&A fees showed the difficulties it will face in delivering its first strategic revamp in a decade.

The British bank reported pre-tax profit for the January-March period of £2.277 billion, down from £2.6 billion a year ago and in line with the £2.2 billion average of analysts' forecasts as compiled by the bank.

Renters Reform Bill "A stitch up"

For many millions of Voters on basic wage £12 hour there is no viable option beyond private renting longer term as they quite simply will not meet the lending criteria for a mortgage. As one example, many Belgians invest in a second property to let , rental periods are normally nine years, extendable with breakpoints at three and six , rent is indexed against the RPI ; both tenant and landlord know where they are..

UK Landlord David says
"I once.evicted tenants because they kept fish, the contract was clear no pets, I still remember their faces with their mouths hanging open".

Little wonder the Renters (Reform) Bill will ‘not stop unscrupulous landlords’ – when these include Tory MPs

Rishi Sunak plans to axe 70,000 civil servants..

Who gets the shove is simple, start at the top and work down. They have already selected themselves.. Get rid of all those who refuse to return to the office along with all those who refuse or work on policies they disagree with or work slowly to disrupt them(enemy within) Then look at the number of sick days and you have your self selected list of ex civil service employees.

Rishi Sunak plans to axe 70,000 civil servants to pay for hike in defence spending

Sunak is planning to brutally axe civil servant jobs in a vow to "put the UK's own defence industry on a war footing".
