Russian forces destroy another US-made Abrams tank in Avdeyevka area over past day.

The Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military improved frontline positions and repulsed seven Ukrainian army attacks in the Avdeyevka area over the past day.

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Russian forces destroyed another US-made Abrams tank of the Ukrainian army in the Avdeyevka area over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.

"The enemy lost as many as 95 personnel, 3 tanks, including a US-made Abrams tank, 2 infantry fighting vehicles, 9 motor vehicles, 2 US-manufactured M777 howitzers and 2 D-30 artillery guns," the ministry said in a statement.

"In the Donetsk direction, units of the Southern Battlegroup took more advantageous positions and struck formations of the Ukrainian army’s 24th and 53rd mechanized, 5th assault and 4th National Guard brigades near the settlements of Krasnogorovka, Chasov Yar, Kleshcheyevka and Spornoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost over 370 personnel, a tank, 2 armored combat vehicles and 19 motor vehicles in the Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours. In counter-battery fire, Russian forces destroyed a Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system, 2 D-30 howitzers and 2 US-made M119 artillery guns, it specified.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in the south Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 145 personnel and 7 motor vehicles, it specified.

The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Kherson direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 40 personnel, 3 armored combat vehicles, including a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier, 4 motor vehicles, a Gvozdika motorized artillery system and 2 D-30 howitzers, it specified.

Russian forces struck Ukrainian troops and military hardware in 107 areas over the past day, the ministry reported.

"Operational-tactical aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groupings of forces struck the Ukrainian army’s personnel and military equipment in 107 areas," the ministry said.

Russian air defenses destroy 131 Ukrainian military drones over past day
Russian air defense forces shot down 26 rockets of the US-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire multiple launch rocket systems and destroyed 131 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the past day, the ministry reported.

"During the last 24-hour period, air defense capabilities destroyed 131 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and shot down 26 rockets of the US-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire multiple rocket launchers," the ministry said.

In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 577 Ukrainian warplanes, 270 helicopters, 17,483 unmanned aerial vehicles, 489 surface-to-air missile systems, 15,629 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,256 multiple rocket launchers, 8,559 field artillery guns and mortars and 20,303 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.

Mass graves of civilians discovered in Avdeyevka, aide to DPR head says

Igor Kimakovsky pointed out that so far dozens of bodies have been identified as those of local residents who refused to leave the city

DONETSK, March 29. /TASS/. Mass graves of civilians have been discovered in Avdeyevka, an aide to the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) told TASS.

"Similarly to Mariupol, mass graves have been discovered in Avdeyevka. There are several sites. According to the local population, victims of Ukrainian repressions were buried in these so-called mass graves, among others," Igor Kimakovsky said.

He pointed out that so far dozens of bodies have been identified as those of local residents who refused to leave the city.

RUSSIAN LANCET LOITERING MUNITIONS CLAIM 30 UKRAINIAN TARGETS IN WEEK (VIDEOS)

The Russian military has successfully destroyed or damaged 29 Ukrainian vehicles and heavy weapons using Lancet loitering munitions between March 23 and 29.

The Ukrainian losses, all documented in video by Lostarmour.info, were: Eight main battle tanks; Eight self-propelled howitzers, including two Polish-made Krab and two American-made M109; Seven towed howitzers, including five American-made M777; Three armored personnel carriers; Two anti-aircraft guns, including a German-made Oerlikon GDF; One infantry fighting vehicle and one high-mobility vehicle.


The Lancet was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of Russia’s defense giant Kalashnikov Concern. The company produces two versions of the loitering munition, the Izdeliye-52 with an endurance of 30 minutes and a one-kilogram warhead and the larger Izdeliye-51 that has an endurance of 40 minutes and is armed with a warhead weighting three kilograms.

The loitering munition flies towards the designated area with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. After arriving in the area, the operator utilizes an onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data-link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser-ranging system then controls the detonation of the warhead.

Ukrainian attempts to stop Lancet loitering munitions with air defense fire, electronic warfare or countermeasures have been mostly unsuccessful.

The Russian military is increasingly using Lancet loitering munitions to attack Ukrainian vehicles and heavy weapons behind the front line. Last month, Lostarmour.info documented a record 162 strikes, while the number of documented strikes this month has already reached 160. It’s worth noting that many strikes remain classified.

A series of Russian strikes with missiles and drones hit several thermal and hydro power plants in central and western Ukraine, according to the country’s power grid operator Ukrenergo and other official sources.

“During the night, the Russians struck again at energy facilities in a massive and combined attack,” Ukrenergo said on its official channel on the Telegram messaging app. “Thermal and hydroelectric power plants in the central and western regions were damaged.”

Explosions were reported in the regions of Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi and Lviv as well as the city of Dnipro as cruise missiles and suicide were spotted in Ukrainian air space.

Maksym Kozytskyi, head of Lviv Military Administration, said that two missiles damaged a critical infrastructure facility in the region.

In addition, regional officials in Dnipro said that Russian forces had attacked infrastructure in the Kamianske district near the city. Ukrainian energy minister German Galushchenko also said that power facilities in the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Cherkasy were attacked.

Moreover, Ukraine’s largest private power firm, DTEK, reported that its three thermal power plants were attacked, without providing any details.

“The equipment was severely damaged,” it said on Telegram. “After the attack ended, the power engineers promptly started to repair the damage.”

Commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Mykola Oleschuk said in a statement that the Russian large-scale attack involved 60 Geran-1/2 suicide drones, three Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched hypersonic missiles, two Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles, nine Kh-59 air-launched cruise missiles, four Iskander-K cruise missiles, 21 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles.

Ignoring the massive damage caused by the attack, Oleschuk alleged that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 58 Geran-1/2 drones as well as 17 Kh-101/Kh-555 and Five Kh-59 missiles. No evidence backing these claims was presented.


The Russian military resumed large-scale strikes against Ukraine last week after a series of of provocations by Kiev, including dozens of strikeswith rockets, missiles and suicide drones on Russian territory as well as cross-border attack. These provocations were mainly meant to terrorize Russian civilians.

Recent attacks on Ukraine targeted power plants and related infrastructure, which indicate that Russia has resumed the campaign against the Ukrainian power grid which was suspended last year.

It’s not just Thames Water: the whole of the English water industry is environmentally insolvent


There has been much discussion about the likely failure of Thames Water in the last day or so. I've been looking at the accounts of England's water companies for the last twenty years. My conclusion is that they are all environmentally insolvent.

Finally, of the almost £25 billion they have made in profit over the years they have paid out every penny, and more, in dividends. In other words, the shareholders have taken 15p in every pound paid for water. There was nothing left for reinvestment, at all.

No wonder the water industry is in trouble. The income statement shows that the public is being fleeced by these companies who are simply treating the fact that the English consumer has had no choice as to who to buy water from as a means to extract profit from them.

Things are, if anything, worse if I look at the balance sheets. Now I know these scare most people, so I will talk through the details. This is a very summarised balance sheet for the industry in 2022:
