The US is controlled by stupid american lawyers.
The administrators/trustees had all the information , if they were too stupid to realise they were selling off the assets cheaply it's their fault not Barclays.
If unsecured creditors have an issue they should take it up with the seller not the buyer.

The next PM speaking on Bonuses, apparently Bob Diamond (presumed missing since 2007) has been found.

"Mr Cameron told the delegates, who included Michael Spencer, chief executive of ICAP, James Leigh-Pemberton, chief executive of Credit Suisse in the UK, Bob Diamond, president of Barclays and Michael Hintze boss of the hedge fund CQS, that financial services is a "key part of Britain's economy."

Positive for BARC,

Our sister site Fox Business News notes a report today from State Street Global Advisors (STT) that exchange-traded funds hit a record high of $739 billion in assests under management at the end of November. BlackRock (BLK) was atop the pile of managers, with almost half the total assets under management, thanks to its purchase earlier this year of Barclay's PLC's index biz. State Street came next, followed by Vanguard Group in third place.

BlackRock shares are up $2.72, or 1.2%, today at $224.25.

Barclays chief Bob Diamond warns windfall tax on bank bonuses not in line with G20
Bob Diamond, president of Barclays, said any plans for a windfall tax on bank bonuses in the Pre-Budget Report tomorrow would be against the remuneration principles agreed at the G20.

Published: 11:08AM GMT 08 Dec 2009

Bob Diamond, president of Barclays, said any plans to tax bank bonuses was against the principles agreed at the G20 Pittsburgh summit in September.
"We don't feel that that is supported by the principles that were adopted," he said at a financial conference in southern England.
In September the G20 nations endorsed a statement by its co-ordinating arm, the Fiancial Stability Board, recommending new rules for bank pay. These included the principle that the size of the bonus pool should depend in part on the health of the balance sheet.

Barclays, which has not received state aid during the financial crisis, reported profits of £1.05bn at its investment banking arm Barclays Capital in the six months to June, helping the bank as a whole improve profits by 8pc to £3bn.
Mr Diamond, who also heads up Barclays Capital, said "policymakers and regulators needed to ensure reform is co-ordinated across the major economies".
"It's extremely important today that around the large economies and financial centres that we create a level playing field around capital, accounting and compensation," he said.
Mr Diamond said that if rules were not uniform it would create a massive opportunity for regulatory arbitrage.
"I support strongly New York and London as financial centres and we all have an interest in keeping them both strong," he said, warning: "Both financial capital and human capital are extremely mobile."
Alistair Darling, the Chancellor, is reported to be considering a tax on bank bonuses in his Pre-Budget Report on Wedndesday.
Business leaders have warned that a move to increase taxes on the rich and stricted rules on the financial sector could see London lose its competitive edge and drive out the very people needed to create growth in Britain.

I bought my first slice of BARC shares into my ISA, whilst still maintaining my BARC shares in my ordinary share dealing account at 53p. My intention is continue drip feeding cash into the ISA rather then go all in and then leave the ISA as-is for a few years.

Short term trend IMHO has been maintained and today we approached the 200 day SMA and bounced again. I see this as very bullish although i'm cautious given all the deramping news around Greece and Dubai, stuff that's been known about for a year.

Melt down in Greece. Any excuse. These hedge funds certainly yield some power with their shorting antics. Hope they get burnt eventually just like some did when VW announced their deal.Please. These Hedgees distort the markets they need reigning in.

Yes. It's the unemployed who have nothing better to do during the day. They shouldn't gamble their benefit money. Probably lost it all, now getting angry at each other, until they get the next payment. I would like these at 190p IMHO.
