Putting it simply, the whole zero carbon idea is to kill off capitalism, people demonstrate to reduce carbon without realising they are protesting to destroy life on earth, starting with the poor, which is the whole idea.
Imagine if companies have to offset their carbon footprint to be able to manufacture anything, all the companies will do is transfer the cost to the customers, so people will be priced out of the market for even the basic items they depend on to live.
