The battle for Britain's future, in or out of the EU, will be settled in June.

Stephen Sackur's guest is Tim Martin, founder of JD Wetherspoon. Could Brexit make economic sense?

KEN , the uk can not stop any eu person coming to the uk for the government to say we can is lies . that is why 333.000 more came to the uk

if we are to be apart of the EU then go in. in full euro and all why should the uk holiday makers have to be ripped off by changing their money
so lets go all out and join in as full members

because if we stay in we may has well be in the euro

no disrespect intended

Portside - This is very off topic, but we're not in the border free area of Europe so I don't see how your question comes into it.

Net migration to Britain has increased to the second highest level on record, official figures reveal.

The figure - the difference between the number of people arriving and leaving - was estimated at 333,000 for the year ending December 2015.

This was 10,000 higher than the level recorded in the year to September, which the Office for National Statistics was "not statistically significant".

Net migration of EU citizens was estimated at 184,000 - up compared to the previous year when it stood at 174,000, and the joint highest figure on record
and if the uk vote to stay in this will treble and the uk services will be destroyed the councils are now at breaking point doctors and hospitals will go in to free fall .

if the uk public think this is good then they deserve what is coming it will it the old big time and thousands will be denighed treatment they will die

from a conservative in campaigner .

all companies should back the in vote for the more migrants that come to
the uk will destroy the union left wingers and bring down the cost to companies
the workers will lose their power to black mail companies . it will bring back the power to the managers to run the company and deal with those that they do not want .

Ricci, who spent nearly two decades at Barclays, believes fintech startups are at an advantage over banks, being able to “move faster, learn faster, react faster to market, regulation and technology changes “.

"I see the banking landscape continuing to change rapidly as fintech companies with viable products, talented management and clever marketing using traditional and new media take market share," he said.

Thanks Portie, appreciate your input on the Barc trades even if we see the Brexit debate differently.

Whatever gets this share price back to my average over time is good enough for me, whether it is rate rises Stateside, the Yanks wanting Lehman's back or the City preferring the status quo of EU membership for the financial sector or big inside trades, is alright by me.

Top, if only there was a bundle of cash lying behind the Sofa. Will just have to work on selling all the stuff we have lying around including the sofa, then when we make a nice profit, buy the sofa back. ;-)

Cape, a truism I like is if you have too many when the price goes down then you probably have enough when it is rising...

But I take your point as the 'momentum' - which can be deceiving too of course in such volatile times - does seem to be with the financial sector generally because the macro picture is beneficial at present with Brexit risk receding and the Fed upping the inference that the next rate hike will be sooner than later...

Have you checked the back of the sofa?!

Thanks Porty and diku. Makes sense and if Wall Street did try and claw it back that could produce a huge spike.

Definitely interesting ahead.

P.s. I just wish I had access to more funds.

Porty, just out of interest, how do you figure in a £2 rise in share price when in the last 5 years it's not even been up to £4?

I'm just curious. Thanks.
