SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
They just close accounts and take ...
They just close accounts and take whatever money is left in your account without notification and then it’s a long process to even get YOUR money back. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Archaic operations…
I have been fortunate enough to have had savings accounts with many banks. I switch accounts on a fairly regular basis to obtain the best rates. For example I have held accounts with :- Nationwide, Yorkshire BSC, Skipton, Coventry, RCI bank, Investec, Charter Savings Bank, Shawbrook, Paragon Bank, Secure Trust Bank and Sainsburys Bank. Most of the banks are great, one wasn't very good, but one stands out as absolutely atrocious, SANTANDER. It would waste too much of my life to list their shortcomings, but if you ever wish to close an online account and prefer the money to be transferred electronically rather than by cheque then be warned, book a half day from work make some sandwiches and a ready supply of tea. It portrays itself as a modern bank, however its operations are archaic. STAY WELL CLEAR. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
I am very disappointed with this bank…
They block my card. They talk to me like I am a criminal. Very rude. Left me for two weeks without any money on Easter time on holiday, I had to cancel my Nat West bank ISA two years contract to have some money. I lost all interest on that. How bank can do that to its own customers, till now I didnt hear from them nothing, is two weeks pass and I still dont have my account back. definitely I will close that bank. So many banks are friendly and polite. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
HMRC cheque paid
Had a Tax refund for over £1,000 from HMRC by cheque, no banks near me, so I had to pay it on via the Post Office.
That was over a week ago no sign of any money, rang them to be told there was nothing traceable, and to call back in a few days if it hasn't come onto my account.
This day and age of transferring money in seconds, this seems ridiculous! |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Strongly advise to not open the account
So far its taking me over 2 years to close the account I don't need.
At the beginning they were requesting to come to a branch with my ex partner which I have no contact for over 3 years now, then they just refused or when I called them they hung up on me.
For that time I was paying for the ACC I'm not using and now to close the ACC they requesting my new bank details in case there's any charges.
Beyond ridiculous. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Not right!
Just tried to send money to family in the Philippines, account was blocked so had to call their security dept, an hour later was still being asked questions like when will the person pay you back! What the hell does that have to do with you!! It’s my money, in fact why am I even on the phone wasting my time explaining what I’m doing with my own money. Bye Santander, hello First Direct…. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Just had a call from Santander...
Firstly they asked about what I had spent money on last year, MY MONEY by the way...
I was even told if I didnt answer my accounts would be restricted!
What on earth has this to do with checking that they have the correct details for me?
If I asked the caller what she had been spending her money on, she would say none of your business!...
The whole think is wrong and needs looking into. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Santander Bank such a horrible experience…
Tried this morning to transfer my money to a different banks savings. Sent a small payment to check it all went through ok after setting up the payee on Santander online banking. When I tried to send the balance to same payee details it was blocked !! So had to phone to unblock my account! After over 30minutes on the telephone the unhelpful operative Sarah said they had to do further checks ! I could not believe it when it had already gone to the same payee at Skipton earlier. Even after calling me back she tried to tell me Skipton was a bad place to save! How unbelievable, it's my money and they have no right to interfere! I shall look into changing my bank, Santander are so difficult it's made me ill today making a simple transfer to an ISA from a Santander account. |
SANTANDERUK CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
AVOID!
Terrible bank and happy to lie to customers to protect their own backs … a bank with clearly no values or morals ... We did a mortgage application with them ... The person dealing with our application on the phone kept telling us they had everything they needed and then days later decided they didn’t causing heaps of delays... in the end ... heavily pregnant, homeless, putting our dog in kennels, our furniture in storage and that stress lead to me to hospital having a premature baby!
Ended up going to nationwide who made the entire mortgage process a walk in the park and had our mortgage sorted within 2 days.
Santander also blocked our joint account 5 months after opening it because apparently they didn’t have my partners ID… he’s banked with them for 14 years and we opened the account in branch where they took them from us and photo copied them… they just blocked the account that all our bills come out of and now we have no access to our money. But again, probably won’t get anything back from them about that… their mistake causing more financial difficulties.
Our family have business accounts with Santander and we have our joint and a personal account with them… after listening to their response to their horrific treatment we will be taking all these accounts to nationwide
who actually care about their customers and have values.
If you are thinking about going anywhere near this bank for anything, I’d approach with severe caution. |
SANTANDER CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Regularly decline legitimate payments
Santander have repeatedly blocked payments...This has included payments to my own accounts, £9.60 to a friend, and purchases from bone fide websites. This has caused huge inconvenience. |
SANTANDER CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Why do I bank with these people.
Going to go with another bank and eventually close our savings with these. |
SANTANDER CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE:
Santander stop payments & give no reason for doing so.
Santander Fraud Team seem to have a habit of blocking my account should I have the temerity to try & transfer money to a competitors bank even when you have sent money to this bank recently. Why Santander do you do this? & why can I not speak to a member of your team?
Apparently it is not them but a robot that is to blame not me mate! Then sack the robot because it doesn't know what it is doing. I now have over £40,000 stuck in my Lite account earning 0 % interest, nice one Santander. I feel like I have been stitched up & hung out to dry all because I wanted to transfer some funds. Shame on you Santander. |
