Regional defence and coalitions therein transcend short term industrial challenges. National Govts drive deeper agendas than political positioning.

There is little consequence of Brexit to the British defence industry.

When a "new" name appears on various boards, slagging everyone off who has a contrary view to their`s I look at the profile they created. It gives you a good indication of the type of person they are.

UK Steel said at current electricity prices it was already impossible for steel producers to be profitable at certain times of day or night and urged the government and the regulator to intervene.

Global Brexit Britain.

Only when the price is right, eh Brexit Bozos?

Taking back manufacturing and exporting to a world still hooked on Asian deflation.

Oh, that’ll work.

Sadly, everything has to be seen through the circus we call Brexit.

I don't see BAE through any Brexit lens. There are multiple
supportive factors currently, providing they can avoid cost overruns.

China is not our friend. We have given too much to them for the sake of profit, and we need to be taking that back and manufacturing and paying our way again

I wonder whether the US is going to underwrite Australia's commodity exports to China?

Note: Look at performance of commodity exporters to China on the FTSE 100 today.

LOL

Daft move by the Australian PM.

And what about the future business lost with our friends in the EU and also that of China? Will that create many highly skilled scientific and engineering roles across the UK, and drive investment in some of our high-tech sectors too? Or are we just going to see the US get the lion's share of the business and more of a right to push the likes of Amazon, Apple and Microsoft onto us where tax contributions are about the size of a gnat's genitals?

These things need to be looked at more holistically than they are currently being done and hence we have many questions - such as May's - to be answered. But Boris has already made his mind up and he his off home to get his leg-over before baby wakes up and needs a nappy change.

Thanks RW looks good

The UK has built and operated world-class nuclear-powered submarines for over 60 years. We will therefore bring deep expertise and experience to the project through, for example, the work carried out by Rolls Royce near Derby and BAE Systems in Barrow. The initial scoping phase for the new endeavour is expected to take 18 months. The design and build process will create hundreds of highly skilled scientific and engineering roles across the UK, and drive investment in some of our most high-tech sectors.
