I was just thinking after listening to that speech I should buy back in here. Seems I wasn’t the only one. So now I have a dilemma. Do I pay up, with the valuation getting a bit stretched or wait? What other Trump investment themes are people trading? |
Should be over 13 quid and build from that level towards. Could see 15 quid easily this year |
Ghastly woman and so out of her depth |
Rachel from accounts will soon be back in her old job imv having not made herself popular with pensioners, farmers or businesses. Now she's too sheepish to raise our defence spending when everyone can see that is desperately needed, and even more so for the EU. Clearly she's about to be overruled by Starmer which will destroy her credibility, or at least what may be left of it! |
Starmer may over rule his chancellor over increases. In defence spending, Watch this space and eve share price reaction |
Finals Wednesday. I suspect share price is more about current and future defence spending attitudes than the balance sheet , but it might remind the market of the strong profits and future orders here? |
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is pursuing “a deployable and persistent wide area ASW search capability” built around the new Type 92 Sloop – an uncrewed surface vessel – and the Type 93, a drone submarine, according to an industry notice.
Imagery associated with the programme suggests the aim is to monitor the GIUK (Greenland-Iceland-UK) gap.
The initiative, called Project CABOT, seeks to “accelerate the RN’s pivot to autonomy with a specific focus on Anti Submarine Warfare,” integrating “lean-crewed, remote-operated and autonomous airborne, surface and subsurface vehicle, sensor and node.” |
I agree palwing and have bought in here today with that in mind. Which other UK/Euro defence companies could also benefit? Thales? Airbus? |
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has issued a Voluntary Transparency Notice (VTN) regarding its intention to award a £58 million contract to BAE Systems Bofors AB for the long-term in-service support of the Archer Artillery System.
According to the notice, the contract will ensure maintenance, repair, training, and configuration management for the system, which forms part of the Interim 155 Capability Project.
The MoD, via the notice, confirmed that BAE Systems Bofors AB—the original designer and sole manufacturer of the Archer system—will be the only supplier capable of fulfilling the contract due to its ownership of the essential design, technology, and specialist tooling required for ongoing support. |
I would suggest it might have more to do with the US defence secretary telling NATO to spend more on defence today. And quite right too. |
Interesting move. Market rejecting Trump's proposal and peace unlikely any time soon? |
The cost of defence spending may be high, but the cost of not spending on defence may be a lot higher.
I too did not take profits at close to £14 , but this is not one I lay awake worrying about... The question of breaching £14 is when, not if. |

As one of the UK’s largest apprenticeship providers, BAE Systems has tested the latest attitudes towards career paths among young people to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week (10-16 February). The findings are part of a newly launched Apprenticeship Barometer, which surveyed 2,000 young people (16-24 year olds) across the country to identify views on education, training and pathways to career success. |
Profits are profits only when taken.Lots have gone for it, I for one am staying in until north of 15 of which I am confident over the next year or two. |
After such a meteoric rise over the last few years, this has got to be one of the worst performing FTSE 100 stocks over the last several months. In hindsight I shoud have sold the rest at 13.58 instead of just another batch. See what happens on Feb 19th before deciding whether to bail for good. |
Interesting concept......

Industrial investment now for the compounding later”
Summary
BAE Systems is well-positioned for growth with strong defense market demand and leading positioning in defense solutions, including with missile leader MBDA.
The latest trading update reaffirms guidance for an H2 similar to H1 in terms of margins and growth, obtainable with ramping organic growth and inorganic growth offsetting Typhoon delivery end.
They are involved in a lot of long-term strategic initiatives including with AUKUS and general maritime MRO and building infrastructure, as well as the Tempest programme.
They are currently making industrial investments in ground vehicles and maritime which will be able to ramp deliveries of already existing and growing segment backlogs.
The valuation remains compelling, and the reinvestment supports compounding and a reversal in FCFY to objectively attractive levels, assuming end-markets grow.
