"F-35 too hot? US fighter gets powerful cooling boost with new 80kW tech" Collins Aerospace (an RTX company) has announced the successful testing of its 80kW cooling system to fix a significant cooling issue with the F-35 “Lightning II.” |
The demands on modern navies are growing. Technological advancements, constrained budgets, and the increasing complexity of operational requirements mean forces must find innovative ways to do more with less.
The Herne platform, an Extra-Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) developed by BAE Systems in collaboration with Canadian firm Cellula Robotics, aims to address this need. |
Maybe RobB, seems to fit with GCAT announcements of 'widening involvement'. |
C'mon Squidsgone - Saudi 1st. It's been a long wait but Defense Secretary visited last week and Starmer due to visit in December (?). Empty prpduction lines so the timing perfect. BAE Systems is set to open a new artillery production facility in Sheffield, backed by a substantial £25 million investment.
The development, spanning 94,000 sq ft, will bring 50 high-skilled jobs to the area, strengthening the UK’s homegrown artillery capabilities.
The Sheffield site will specialise in the production of the M777 lightweight towed howitzer. This move aligns with the UK government’s ambition to boost and maintain essential defence capabilities within the country.

If Turkey can still buy F35s they can buy Typhoons and likley will. Before Qatar? |
Rather depends on whether Turkey is a friend , a foe, or like most countries, somewhere in between , at this point in time.... Hard to imagine Turkey has its eyes on an expansion West. The traditional cross-roads between East and West it wants to trade in all directions I think. |

From the DT
“ Workers at a British fighter jet factory have warned that production has “essentially stopped” amid fears that the Royal Air Force (RAF) will in future buy US-made aircraft instead.
The BAE Systems plant in Warton, near Preston, was until recently assembling Eurofighter Typhoon jets for Qatar following a £6bn order placed by the country seven years ago.
But with that work now winding up, and no similar orders outstanding, “essentially production has stopped for British-built Typhoon aircraft”, union chiefs have warned. |
