Blippy, you're a bit confused. Lammy didn't phone the Russian. He berated him for using his phone during the meeting. As for the remark about Lammy's racial identity, you have missed the point entirely. I don't like Lammy. And previously I've been very critical of him. But his speech at the UN was powerful and eloquent. He criticised Putin and called out his crimes. I agreed with every word. Bravo Mr Lammy. |
Lammy phones Russian representative saying that he stands there as a black man. It's true. I'm not making this up. He really is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't he? |
rod, in 2021 I sold a few BA. and bought RR @ 1.41, best buy I ever made! |
Oh the conundrum Ribble of where to invest! Just 6 months till my retirement and still nothing. Is what I see in front of me just a 'mirage' ? Surely soon or nothing at all !! I would like to thank all at Rolls Royce for making my gains, I often see their humble employee's in the shop, but BAe have been good! |
Thanks rech and blippy. I shall hold off investing in either for now. RW |
BAE Systems Information & Electronic Systems Inc., Nashua, New Hampshire, is awarded a not-to-exceed $34,300,000 stand-alone contract for the procurement of six multifunctional module mast (MMM) tactical modules and MMM payload modules. Working capital (Navy) funds in the amount of $16,807,000 will be obligated at time of award as an undefinitized contract action, and funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. One company was solicited for this sole-source requirement with one offer received. Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is the contracting activity (N00104-24-C-NA67). |
@rech CCL I totted up the figures for net profit for 2014 to 2023. The whole thing came to a net LOSS of £11.4b. Share count is up nearly 80% since 2018 and net debt has nearly tripled. Yowsers. |
CCL has been destroying shareholder value for five years, and didn't create any during the previous five. All other metrics are bad: ROCE, ROE, debt trajectory, interest cover, and to top it off, it seems to have been issuing shares just to stay afloat. I'd suggest that the shareholder perks are a beguiling sop. |
Hmm, here's a conundrum. BA. share price currently sat at 1270, Carnival (CCL) also sitting @ 1270. Which one to choose? Other than the div CCL also offers more stockholder "perks". |
BAE Systems Australia has introduced the Autonomous Tactical Light Armour System (ATLAS) Collaborative Combat Variant (CCV), an uncrewed ground vehicle designed to support military operations and reduce risks to soldiers.
The ATLAS CCV is an 8×8 modular vehicle capable of operating autonomously in both on- and off-road environments.
It is intended to complement crewed military assets, such as infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks, by performing tasks that would typically expose soldiers to danger. |
The UK government has reaffirmed its commitment to the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), with significant financial investment and ongoing support for the British defence industry, despite earlier concerns that the upcoming defence review could impact the programme.
In response to a written question from James Cartlidge, Conservative MP for South Suffolk, Maria Eagle, the Minister of State for Defence, confirmed that the UK is set to invest over £1.3 billion in GCAP and the associated Team Tempest R&D programme during the current financial year. |
Don't be so reticent Gecko, tell us what you really think of Lammy. |

May I refer the Honourable Member to my comment above.
Lots more from Lammy where that came from!!! |
Ribble has yet to advise/deny that BA. makes pagers |
A new explainer published by the Council on Geostrategy urges Britain to increase its warship production in response to escalating global security challenges.
Authored by Dr Emma Salisbury, a Sea Power Research Fellow, the report highlights the critical need for the Royal Navy to enhance its capacity, mass, and firepower to safeguard the UK’s interests at home and abroad. |
WW3 wont happen if some brave soul puts something in the little mans tea ! |
Meanwhile... I doubt we have world peace anytime soonhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cwyl9048gx8t |
"David Lammy is our foreign minister....."
Catastrophe waiting to happen. |
David Lammy is our foreign minister. WW3 by year-end. |
... and every European will accept that for the next 30 years Russian expansionism doesn't exist or has gone away ... or not. |
"Starting to look at...". Surely they have been looking before today. And yeah I'm sure Putin will just bend over. Hmmm. Opportunity knocks? |
Ah world peace of course. Great opportunity for some then. |
