Good article in IC today, but gives a lot of concerns re like for like figures which they say need to be the focus in next week’s announcement |
We seem to be bottoming out, though 440 level doesn't appear to be historically significant.Shouldn't be long until we get a trading statement. |
The SHOE ZONE profit warning did mention freight costs from China, but it also mentioned weak sales of Spring/Summer lines April to June due to unseasonal weather, and about a weak ago it mentioned a cyber incident. So a heap of woes! |
25% down in a month. Can things really be that bad ? |
a vast amount of product comes from china (sadly) from screws to toys, all the seasonal stuff would as well |
Fozzyb , I think you are right , the average 40ft shipping container transport cost was $1474 a year ago ,but $5318 now. That is almost a quadrupling .Even worse , Shanghai to Rotterdam , the nearest published port , went up almost six-fold.
I don't know how much stock comes from China , but there must be a serious hit on the bulky low value items. |
Sainsbury's hit as wet weather dampens Argos sales |
Yeap. £3.90 calling at some stage. |
Just look at the profit warning from SHOE Zone this morning that mentions it |
Freight costs high. Expect some comments towards this in next financial statement and this may be hurting the sentiment right now |
Interesting to see whee the bottom is 350 would be great! |
If this is a shakeout it seems to be working as the share price continues to fall. This feels a bit like GLEN earlier in the year. It fell and fell for a while then turned tail and moved up for 100 points.I'm hoping this will do the same. |
I think the concerns over the late summer weather, people are waiting for the next update to see if there was an impact |
But look at the way this is falling in price. Don't understand why. The estate is growing. The Wilko customers must be shopping somewhere. Business growing in region of 10%+ in a normal year. That's just the bare bone highlights. There is a bargain to be had post ex div. |
Yeah forgot about that , and no ISA provider will chase it . |
9.6p x 85% re witholding tax |
I'm happy to take the divi in my ISA. |
Divi is 9.6p next week ; small fry in the rocky ride of the share price ! |
I thought it had gone ex div with such a big fall in price but that’s next week! Any news out today? |
Let me know if my interpretation of today's AGM / EGM announcement is wrong..
Agenda point 1: ability to raise cash by issuing new shares to institutions 'overnight' without giving you and me a chance to join in the offer - increased from 5 to 10% of number of currently issued shares
Agenda point 2: as point 1 but for the more specific purpose of acquisition of another business(es) |
That word "deferral" is rather concerning ; so he could take the other half next month and it would be deferred.... |
Cosy little Russo-Schmidt options award.I note the reason stated is DEFERRAL and not forgoing half their annual bonus - and presumably for one year only. In the case of Russo those options are currently worth around £800,000. This has an unpleasant aroma. |
Freight markets must be hurting margins |
I went into my local today and lots of summer gardening, outdoorsy stuff. I can imagine it's going to take a hit with the mild weather and this must be factored in now with the ridiculous drop |
I have to believe we must be near the bottom. The way the CEO talks they run a very tight ship. So I would expect if they hit a setback like poor weather they already have a contingency plan in place to minimise and mitigate it. Discounting springs to mind, as I don't imagine they will want to hold unseasonal stock.I will watch with interest, and if one of my other investments bears fruit I may well make an investment here. But I want to see this make a definite bottom first. |
