25/4/2004 11:41 | Hey Guys, Just thought id tell you about DART GROUP. - The smart investors' favourite budget airline - A host of shrewd investors are backing budget airline and distribution business Dart Group with one top smaller companies team buying at the start of this month. Dart (DTG), which operates fledgling budget airline jet2.com and also offers air distribution services using the same planes, has become a tempting destination after a slump in its share price in the second half of last year. Heres a few reasons why its a good time to buy now... * Results in 7 weeks (16th June) * ISA Stock * The first half of the year Dart's pre-tax profits rose by 31% to £7.1 million from a 16% rise in turnover * Company is very cheap with a P/E of only just over 7 and a forward P/E of just over 6 * Offers a healthy 4.7% dividend yield * Market Cap. 45.70 m * Shares In Issue 34.49 m * 3.7% spread * Directors and Institutions hold 61% of the shares, very few in public hands. * Loads of cash in Bank * Jet2 operates from Leeds/Bradford and Belfast with flights to 13 destinations once a Belfast-Prague service is launched at the end of this month. * 16% (net book value) of the total tangible assets is in freehold property with less than 1% in short term leaseholds * Airline booking increasing this year, a Very good recovery play considering the stock is on the bottom of its range... When Dart's fleet of aircraft is not being used to transport holidaymakers they are utilised for distribution services, ferrying cargo, fresh produce and flowers. The company is also involved in freight forwarding at Manchester, Newcastle, east Midlands and London Heathrow. Cheers Invisage | invisage
23/4/2004 17:13 | anybody know what's happening here, we likely to see some recovery soon I would hope, with the renewed focus on the hire business? Any thoughts from someone in this one for a while? Any chance of renewed focus into the consumer market, - doesn't seem likely if they don't reduced prices and the prices look set to stay the same according to the announcement recently. | jiggle
01/3/2004 14:47 | Shareholders other than Founders Club Members qualify for shareholders' benefits when they hold a minimum of 350 shares purchased in a single transaction and registered in their own name (i.e. not a nominee account). Within about 4 weeks of purchasing the shares you should get a welcome pack which includes an application form for a special Wizard card. Once you have that Wizard card, then any reservations made by quoting that card's number will be entitled to discounts varying from 10%-50% depending on the location and time of rental. Shareholders who qualify for shareholders' benefits can call the following number - 0870 333 7000 for further information. | matthu
01/3/2004 13:19 | I have been informed that if you hold 350 shares with a share certificate, Avis will give you 50% discount on car rental. Can anyone confirm this to me? Thanks in anticipation. | yehoshua
16/2/2004 15:18 | Are the shares a worth a punt at current levels? How much is the shareholders discount worth for car rental? | diarmuid

08/1/2004 13:02 | 96p now surely to reach £1 soon and then back to £1.10 and beyond! | chrissingh
06/1/2004 12:12 | 91p seems to present resistance on low and 93 on the up. If it break this cycle, it's a winner. | chrissingh

11/12/2003 20:03 | Brugha - I agree with you. It's just a hunch but i suspect the only direction now is up, although i will wait to see which direction it's going tomorrow before going in for some, hopefully at 91-92p. | simon01
11/12/2003 19:36 | brugha, I've been in this stock before and it's a dog. I fear you might be in too early. Set a very tight stoploss and stick to it. I think it could have further to fall. | gsands
11/12/2003 19:11 | O.K Some company at last :) I got some at 89p Not a 10 bagger LOL although I remember the FT saying it was good value at about 190p (But what would they know) 10-20 % would bring a smile to my face. | brugha

11/12/2003 15:37 | In my experience the lowest point is usually at the end of the trading day. | gsands

14/9/2003 12:00 | Interesting that Informer should say that Avis relies too heavily on the corporate sector and is far too expensive for the private hirer. The latest interim statement reveals that Corporate business comprises only 22% of total revenue, while Leisure business makes up 35%, Replacement car business makes up 24% and Premium business makes up 19%. Avis recently took over Budget Car Rental, so they now own TWO of the three biggest and most widely recognised car rental brands in the world. The interim statement reveals that integration of the Budget brand is progressing well and plans for expansion into the growing budget conscious market are being advanced. As well as having a strong presence across Europe, Middle East and Africa, Avis have also recently been expanding into Japan, Korea, Singapore, India and China. So all things considered this does not particularly look like a company that is overly reliant on a single market. Instead it gives the appearance of a group with two of the strongest brands in the sector that is broadly based geographically, well represented across all business segments and therefore well-placed to benefit from any sustained recovery in the travel market... whenever that may be! The only slight dampener is that the CEO has indicated he will be stepping down in the first half of 2004. Until his replacement has been identified, in my opinion these shares will be trading in a narrow band. | matthu
05/9/2003 00:22 | wish you'd told me sooner! i sold out and took a small hit as i didn't expect this quick recovery back up to 115p. like you say the outlook statement was terrible - which was the worse than the results (which were predicted anyway)and i thought they would stagnate around the 110 mark i was wrong..... | guysands
04/9/2003 23:10 | guy Shame you sold, but we've all done the same at some stage or other. A break upwards through the earlier closing high of 116p should produce a nice upwards thrust towards 121p then 124p and finally 129p. | hatman
04/9/2003 06:45 | I'm still long og these, despite lukewarm results and outlook statement. The chart is excellent, with high volume on up days. The shares have now successfully tested the support at 108p and have reacted upwards strongly. Looking for a further rise to the 121/129 area. | hatman |
