Having ducked out for a (2nd) loss at 160p in January, I'm afraid I am with JakNife on this one. It's good to see AVN doing this deal with EE but it's the sort of deal they should have been doing 4/5 years ago. Their revenues are constantly behind the curve and they need a string of these to catch up. Remember this from December 2010 -
"The response from our market has been excellent since the launch of HYLAS 1 and we are confident that we can achieve the targets we have set ourselves to fill HYLAS 1 within three years and, under certain conditions, could expect to do better."

cheers bwakem.

tychee - not sure why you think shorters are worried, they have been in the money for some time now. I have been short from 190p. I will be looking to get back in again, because this is free money. This weeks rise just gives those that have closed another bite. As a side note, I don't need TW to guide me, but accept all info from all sources and chose to act as I interpret it.

I am no longer short, I have previously stated I had a trailing stop set at 5.5p back on the way up, which means I was stopped out at 96p. If I want to enter a short again, I will need to find a new broker or SB because Core are close only. When a SB and or broker refuse to take a short you have to ask why this is? In this case, they will know the risk ratio is not in their favour, they're not a charity.

I see at least one giddy soul getting all excited about the EE deal. Why? No idea, the EE deal don't even cover interest on the debt for more than a couple of months, if that.

Smoke and mirrors again.

Unfortunately long term contracts don't really help price the shares today. The big determinant of that will be how and at what price they manage to raise their next tranche of money. I still think that they would be better off raising before year end. If they get bonds away close to the 14% that current bonds are pricing then that will be relatively positive. A big discount on bonds or equity or a debt for equity swap would be bad news. Failing to get it away before y/e would be the worst case.

Only the muppets are buying here.

Once upon a time I used to berate the shorters like all the inexperienced and less savvy do, but with time and in order to succeed in the markets, you learn that you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO TAKE HEED. There is alot of smart money short here and the bulls have been warned of the red flags on numerous occasions.

Sell whilst you can and save yourself some money. Use that money to invest in a proper company (PHTM, COST etc), or buy yourself or your family something nice, because you're going to lose everything here.

Remember, it makes no difference to institutional fund manglers if they lose everything here. Don't be a hero, get out on these spikes whilst you still can.

All imo

The first phase of this multiyear contract has an initial value of $29m.

Initial means min, so this is the starting point

Of course all payment comes in bit, it's cash /revenue that counts.

Potentially an option to double the contract.

Avanti will connect a number of cellular sites across the UK to EE's network using the HYLAS 1 and 2 satellites, to provide communications in remote areas and additional network resilience.

remains short? Are you part of the suicide squad?

The announcement was very short on detail and numbers. I suspect that's because it's nowhere near as exciting as it sounds and there's probably some accounting trickery employed (there always is with Avanti). It's safe to remain short for the long-term.

It's strange we haven't heard anything more about the debt raise that S&P talked about.

Avanti are forecasting 50% growth for 2016 which would mean they need to do c$59m revenue in H2 having done $31m in H1. If we assume they can improve their gross margin in H2 to 45% from H1's 41% and overheads are static then they should generate $8.2m OCF. FCF would then be -$23.9m accounting for debt interest.

They had $162m cash at end H1 and have guided for a further $64-74m capex in H2. If we also assume the H1 working capital flow normalises then the year end cash balance would be $38-43m.

Given that they have guided $70m capex in FY17 and will have $64m debt interest payments then I'm not sure they would get a going concern sign off for H2 accounts without the raise so you'd think they'd want to get it in before year end.

geoff, fortunately for avanti investors it is very hard to borrow to short now. I closed half my short at 92p and tried to add at 98p, my broker said close only.
