i'm more worried hylas won't function properly or will be some problem of that kind as opposed to actual launch of rocket and getting hylas into space.

Soyuz has not had a launch failure since 2005, (soyuz has not failed since 2005: ) and they build up to 60 per annum, using them to send men to the ISS (its the only rocket in the World safe enough for manned spaceflight). Launch risk therefore is being over-egged

Was thinking of doing the same Jimbo. However the trouble is knowing when it is a success. Satellites can be damaged by the launch or just not respond or not work properly once deployed.

Maybe putting a few short positions over very short windows might be the best approach.

Straight from the board room (inside info) - they are confident that the share price is heading shortly to over £12 share.

I have no intention of selling any.I will accept the risk involved in the launch. If it fails I will continue to hold until they launch the next one.
I will only sell if I think they become over valued.

The big question seems to be - will you hold your AVN shares through the launch or not?

I am inclined to hold say 3000 shares through the launch and then if the launch is successful buy as many as I can afford afterwards even if that means paying a premium which could be anything from say 50% to say 100% of the pre launch price.

If the launch fails and the share price say halves then I will just have to accept that loss.

What are everybody elses' tactics?

The UK-Analyst Stock Market Report on Friday 16th April 2010

...

"Avanti Communications* (AVN), the broadband satellite firm, reported that the launch of its HYLAS-1 satellite on the Soyuz spacecraft is still on target for September 2010. The satellite, which is now fully assembled, is in final preparations for shipment to the launch site. Daniel Stewart, which has buy stance and a 1,111p target price for the shares, said it remains confident of the medium-term prospects for the group's Avantis Ka product, even in the UK which is still debating the possible 50p broadband tax."

Thanks Dil
i could pay twice the price for " up to 20 mbs " but i do not do any gaming or
download films etc so £ 5.99 per month is ok for me.
cheers

Having bought originally in 2008, and picked ip more on some of the dips, I am surprised that I let this Co. become such a large part of my SIPP. I know the launch is the risky point, but if I still have them all when that happens successfully, well the mind boggles. Yet for some reason, I still feel a confidence here which in any other stock I hold, would worry me. Must resist the temptation to sell any; thats the hardest thing on the way to a ten bagger, so they tell me.

It is Terryebby. The factor that attracted me to AVN in the begining was David Williams enthusiasm, focus and commitment and I'm quite sure that along with what their business is and is going to be is what is going to see us with a nice profit here
