Yorgi, I'm not too worried, as I agree with TW's comments. In addition, it will be interesting to see what happens as we approach the launch of H2 around the end of Q1. After H1, the share price dropped back,(big hype beforehand of course), but it was a milestone achievement. Assuming H2 gets into orbit and starts working OK (and of course it is a big assumption, but they are doing it on the experience of H1), then, (ignoring the T Traders who come on board to try & profit from the launch), some of the doubters will have to start thinking again and I think the slow and steady decline that we have seen over the last year will reverse and head the other way. This never was a short term punt.

Sorry Greengiant and 2vdm but I tried a bit of inverse logic but it only helped a tad :-)

I'm not sure TW's words will help much either but here are his latest.

Avanti Communications Group* - Contract Win

Avanti Communications Group* - Contract Win

Avanti Communications* (AVN) has been awarded a £5 million contract by the Regonal Growth Fund, which will see the AIM-listed satellite operator expand its broadband infrastructure and activities in Cornwall. The award is conditional on completion of standard government procedures.

Currently trading at 307p, Avanti Communications is capitalised at £260.8 million - only a 26% premium to net tangible assets as at 30th June 2011 (which does not even include its orbital licenses). Today's news fills me with further confidence that the group is capable of delivering sales of around £29 million and pre-tax profits of £6.8 million (earnings per share of 8p) for the current financial year (ended 30th June 2012) and sales of £125.4 million and profits of £36.1 million (earnings per share of 34.9p) for the following year. This equates to a prospective PE ratio of 8.8 times financial year 2013 earnings - and is a compelling valuation for a business that has only just entered into its first full-year of earnings, occupies a commanding position in a high value niche market and has a strong balance sheet. As such, my stance remains "strong buy".

*Avanti Communications is a corporate client of Rivington Street Holdings, the owner of this website, and the SF t1ps Growth Fund owns shares in Avanti. For further details on the fund visit www.t1psim.com or e-mail growthfund@t1psim.com.

The contract win is of course good news and there will be more but there is no arguing that the share price has frustrated us to the limit.

The general negative market today is the overriding factor determining the share price direction in my opinion. So today ignore the share price direction and think of the contract win as "another brick in the wall" in building our company.

Don't you just love this share, they get a £5m contract and the price drops 4.6%! Hopefully they will get a £10m contract next week and if Yorgi is positive as well, it will drop at least another 10%, so we can all top up again! LOL.

Yep - might be a red day on the markets today but that should help to keep the momentum going in the AVN share price increase.

Very interesting article, dafreti, I like DW's feisty style.

In relation to any outcome by the WA, I've copied this recent post from GCCR on the iii board:
'Just for interest, if you express interest in a Satellite Broadband connection from the Avanti Website, you will receive one of the Welsh gov'ts application packs for their £1000 grant to get >2MBit/s broadband from one of Avanti's retailers !

This is sure to catch on and will lead to a rush of business for Avanti, if it hasn't already, and not only in Wales.

(Oh, to state the obvious you will of course only get the Welsh govt grant if you live in the Principality).'
-----
Shorters continue to head for the door, still almost 4m on loan though. Some good news, on HYLAS1 in particular, could give the momentum to cause a stampede. Fingers crossed.

That is the only application where there is legitimately a couple of 100 milliseconds difference at least. But, on the flip side, we have Government customers who are using our satellites to pilot unmanned aerial vehicles which are engaged in real war fighting applications. So if the Department of Defence in America is willing to use our satellite capacity to control and command drones that are fighting wars, perhaps Mr Edwards could get used to the latency on Call of Duty.

Pretty clear to me that AVN will get the MEA contract from the US gov - how much was that worth? knocking on for £150m or something wasnt it?

US military aint gonna be using copper wire/cable over MEA - that is a large contract

We all know that satellite is never going to be as good as a good copper wire or cable connection but for those that SFA at the moment AVN's solution will give a good service for most peoples needs and aspirations.

Yes David Williams has always impressed me when I have seen him talking (only on line I might add and TV). He makes a very good point, that the government should put up or shut up (maybe not his words exactly) but just make a decision.

cheers dafreti

i sense that DW knows what he is talking about. in addition, as we all know, consumer is probably the least important app for AVN

looking forward to £6 by June

Well we haven't moved on as much as I hoped earlier today but we have edged on none the less and if all we do is 1 or 2% a day thats just fine as long as most days are up.
